Since we have to realise that most of the players on this server using it a shooting game and dont cares about the roleplay backround, I got an idea what could help to change this. I know, there are a lot of players who already roleplaying, but since its a roleplay server, I would like to see more and more members, who focus on it and not just on money making and gathering blue messages.
The other reason to motivate players to do more and better stories, ingame events, etc. Motivate anybody who like roleplaying.
The idea isnt new, since I wanted to do something similiar into the welcome thread before for the newcomers.
First of all: [color=#FFFFFF]What could motivate anybody to focus on roleplay while he could earn more virtual money? Just virtual money for sure or a prize/challenge/medal or anything else what could pull out him from the water.
So make systematical events, prizes, contests.
For example:
Give vote options and choose members of the month by their roleplay stories, ingame activity, etc.
Give vote options and choose leader of the month.
Give vote options and choose "new faction" of the month.
Etc, etc.
The most important part is the competition what could motivate us.
Since making money or anything else, isnt a hard thing on this server, offering a CAU8 or money or just a special forum sign or something like that, isnt an impossible mission to do from the admin side.
Here is my idea in short, and I would like to hear others opinions.
This would only serve to further elevate the egotistical nature of some people around here, and while on the surface it might appear to increase the levels of 'Roleplaying' going on, it really wouldn't.
I roleplay, I've roleplayed since day one, with both words and shooting, I won't stop roleplaying, but I wouldn't take part in something like this, either..
I don't need my ego stroked.
I roleplay because I enjoy it, not because I feel like I deserve to be rewarded.
Yyyyyyyyyeah... I have to agree with Sarawr on that one. People shouldn't need a competition to encourage roleplay. If they can't roleplay without feeling like they need someone to give them an award saying "Congratulations, you've been doing what everybody else has been doing for 6 years" then they should probably leave.

This, specifically.
If you want to fix whatever 'problem' there is the first step is always to do something about it yourself instead of expecting others to do it for you. Most of my RP is shootery because there are only a select few people I can stomach just talking to for any amount of time.

Good job, you're part of what's wrong with this community.
Roleplay is roleplay. It should disregard OORP grievances.
PS: I'm not saying it because shootyshooty, I'm saying it because of that pretentious "People aren't worth my time anyway" attitude.

Oh Kanga you troll. You act as if I have a problem with them, not the case. I simply find most of the 'RP' that goes around this place to be dull and recycled but I can't fault people entirely, it's a symptom of a flawed system. Most of the people I can't be arsed sitting down and talking to ingame I get along with fine on Skype. >_>
Which, back to the topic, is why I brought it up in the first place. If more people did more interesting stuff I'd be more inclined to fly around and do more interesting stuff, though I don't suspect I'll be leading any factions ever again.

Well golly gee, perhaps if you waited for a moment before screaming "KILL IT" with most people you might find them more 'interesting'.
That said, no one is obligated to entertain you. If you find it dull, go somewhere else.
Wait, you ran the Hellfire Legion and you're calling OTHER people's Roleplay dull and recycled?
Back on the OP: I'll just +1 what Sarah said.
I really don't think it would work.
Those that want to roleplay, are already roleplaying.
Those that don't... Well, you take the good with the bad.
I get what you're saying Wraga, but i do have to agree with this quote.
