nice ideas - but building a mod on what is perceived as "mistakes" on the parent mod won t make you happy.
the mod appears to be inspired by all the negative things on disco - the only new stuff appears to be the unknown systems etc. ( good idea there )
all in all - i don t think you need igiss permission - cause you make an alternate vanilla rather than an alternate disco.
might be quicker to simply ask the modellers if you may use their ships - or you don t do if you got the modellers.
either way - a mod rises and falls with its members... that is why i don t give even high end mods like freeworlds a great chance - except as a tech demo.

I support this statement.
A mod is made by its community, not by the developers, not by all the .ini files. A fancy mod with a lot of functions, new things, new systems... isn't nothing if there aren't any players interested in it.
As from my point of view, relentlessly being a hater of everything being Star Trek, Star Wars or other rubbish that I saw in my whole life, I'm not interested in FW: ToW.
But we aren't basing our mod from every negative thing in Discovery. As the name says 'Alternate/Alternative', everything is the opposite on DAU as you can experience on DiscoMain.
The wreck of the Osiris, lost during the Siege of Toledo, during the Nomad Wars of 800 - 801 A.S, was an experimental battleship with cloaking technology constructed by the Liberty Security Force on Juneau Shipyard. The original blueprints of this incredible piece of technology were lost, possibly being destroyed, when a renown Liberty Security Force agent, Casper Orillion, defected alongside several other Liberty Navy and Liberty Security Force agents on the Osiris.
Doctor Kendra Sinclair declared that Edison Trent, the renown Freelancer that helped Von Claussen to save Rheinland, lost his life during the siege, and that went down with the Osiris and its crew. The same destiny awaited Jun'ko Zane, Michael King and Casper Orillion.

The current Discovery isn't Discovery (playing with words? not at all) but everything is already explored.
Instead, on DAU, you have a lot of new systems, that you cannot see on the Universe Map. But that you can casually discover, and then you can sell the location for the system to a faction. The new systems will be bigger (or more) as Newcastle. Gallia has been deleted in this (our) spin-off. Maybe Igiss' won't like this, but this was the most logical course of actions for us, everything is alternate in DAU, everything was made to reflect what DiscoveryGC is.
There is a gameplay problem with this idea. I assume your server will have similar limitations in terms of player capacity. By spreading people too far and into big systems to "discover" you will make interaction between even more rare.

Not quite, since finding these jumpholes (we've put them above or below the plane) are situated sometimes in very dangerous areas, I tried to go to Georgia from Texas on an UAU VIII Guardian, I hit one of the many space anomalies that we've put in the zone, and I've lost almost all my hull, except one bar. But before I could get back towards the CCRS, I blew up due to the radiation.
