So I just saw a rather unpleasant action of a "pirate".
And I had this in my mind for long, that most of pirates in DiscoGC are not pirates anymore, just complete PvPwhores. Yeah. That.
Reason is simple, true pirates would never stand and fight. They would take all the cash, jewelary etc. and disappear. While we have a bunch of sitting pirates, waiting for some prick to annoy him to get a reason to go blazing weapons.
The only pirates I saw in DiscoGC were The Lane Hackers. Never did I see them fighting, nor did I saw a message of the being destroyed. Too bad. That's what? Like 5 to 10 players? Rogues. Ech. Never saw them. Server lacks true pirates. That's my opinion.
Now I don't want to make some kind of revolution, however, fixing and adding few restrictions to Pirate ID would solve the problem. Such as "Cannot engage lawfuls" or alike.
Well. I hope you get my idea. May the discussion begin, about piracy, PvPabuse and hopefully the problem itself.
EDIT: Yeah. Forgot to talk about terrorists. Well. Pirates in DiscoGC are exactly those. They want to shoot rather than make profit. That's why a generic terrorist ID letting engage lawfuls but forbidding to engage trade ships would make more sense and deeper RP immersion.
Don't say a pirate performed an action which made him seem like a man with a fallus attached to his head.
You're not going to get a warm response to this. Hopefully you're aware of that.
I'd be inclined to agree; the game is fundamentally about shooing stuff, and when people have a clear cut advantage in numbers, equipment, and a lack of lag, it just makes shooting easier. Roleplay doesn't factor in there. Ultimately it's not fun being assailed either way, but when people do it for profit (which here means gratuitous amounts, in the tens of millions of credits) or for target practice, it makes it feel even less worthwhile.
It's not going to change either. Just how this place works. I suggest trying to find a niche where fighting isn't a factor at all, then.
The game is about shooting stuff, as Vogel said. And yes, people are douches about PVPwhoring. I know this cause I'm one of the people who goes and shoots something when he's bored. Just today I smashed apart some wildlife haulers on my Gaian cause I was bored.
Now, that's what I'm supposed to do as NLH. We don't pirate, we shoot.
Now, as far as pirates go, yes, I agree, some people don't realize that using a pirate ID isn't equivalent to making yourself effectively an "I can shoot anyone" machine. It doesn't. I know pirate RP is their credit request. But this is not in any way a way to go and pick targets randomly. You need a terrorist, SCRA or Nomad ID to do that. ( ^^ )
Also, make the pirate ID not able to shoot lawfuls? Yeah, totally, I can see the demands:
"Two million or I'm going to follow you around throwing flowers at your ship, lawful scum!"
Sucks to be a weight on the wrong side of the brilliance-insanity scale.
I don't really agree, though I am heavily biased in this.
If you ever meet a Volksfront(I'd say Bundschuh in general even, but I can't 100% guarantee the behavior of indies) pilot, I can guarantee you that unless you act extremely provoking, you are more likely to get a political speech than gunfire.
In fact we don't allow our members to pirate for credits.

Do you not read the news or something? Modern day pirates kidnap people, steal government vessels and rob aid flotillas. But you have one thing right, they rarely kill hostages (at least, I never see it reported). Then again, in reality, people actually value their lives: on Disco nobody really cares.
If you are going to say this, then you might as well say Liberty Police Incorporated cannot engage unlawfuls, they can only arrest them.... see how well that works.;)It won't.
