Hi,

Needing help again.

I gave up on repairing my lappy's screen, but can't get my new monitor to function as the primary. When I set it to act as the primary monitor... it goes into sleep mode.

The monitor does work. I can click and drag things onto it and they show up on it, however, it is very far from ideal.

Any suggestions?

Ive had this problem with my new video card, having two of them. Let me try to remember what to do....

EDIT: I remember having to fiddle around with the 'extend onto and 'set as primary' options...Something about telling to to extend onto the new card, and then being able to set it as the primary. Then I think i went back and disabled everything in the default one. Then again, don't most laptops have a function to turn off the LCD and output to a Monitor? FN + CRT/LCD? Something like that?

While being quite funny, your sig was the biggest one i've ever seen so far. No more than 700x250 please. ~utrack

That was my second idea. The first was shouting, followed by a rock.

EDIT: Thanks, SED.

WHOS THE MAN!?
Wait did it work? I went into mine, but I have totally disemboweled all references to my built in graphics card, so my computer only sees my new card...If only I had some pictures or something to jog my memory.

Hmm, no, Fn + CRT/LCD didn't seem to do it, although I can click and drag my crap onto it, which isn't really what I'm after at all. Actually, right now, I'm typing on my new monitor.:dry:Bloody typical really. I expected this to work straight off the bat.

instead of setting the new screen to primary, you can "clone" the old one onto the new one...

That's what I've been doing...

I don't want an additional desktop, I only want one... but I want it on a different screen.
