I doubt they'll drop Mac/Linux/Android support on day 1, the updates will just never happen. Not that we got any regular updates with Skype for Linux anyway.
Good idea, but it's Windows-only, which of course still has the M$ problem.

Skype is peer-to-peer. If Microsoft did release an update that reduced skypelag, it'd only get better if most of the clients/supernodes updated to it. A large number of people combined in Mac/Linux/Android/iOS will likely not get such an update.

Yeah, I also don't like the idea of a piece of software running on my computer controlled by Microsoft that has the features that malware uses - obfuscation and anti-reverse engineering techniques.
