Suggestion.

Take it to your friendly (or not so friendly) computer guy/girl/person.

I KNOW you have one, everyone does.

If it's not something you know how to fix, mucking about may make it worse.

However, you should check your video card before you do that, just in case.

Hopefully you have your old video card stashed somewhere safe for just such an emergency as this, that is if you replaced it before it blew up.

But seriously, what I said at the start of this post.
Been there done that, got told that if I had of just taken it to him in the first place it would have cost me a lot less than I ended up having to pay to get it sorted.

After all, it's power supply. One guy suggested Seasonic, anyone has any experience with that one?

Seasonic?

Never heard of them.

Stick with the names you know.

If you aren't sure which one to get, ask your computer guy, it's his business to know which PSU's are good and which aren't.

However, if you want a recommendation, Cooler Master (I have one of these, a 550 watt) or Corsair are the way to go.

Check the wattage on your old PSU and go for one a little bigger if you can afford it.

Well, he recommended Seasonic, but I never heard of them too (at least, he said they are good). Had Chieftec for 4 years now, it's one that died recently. He said to get one around 500 Watts, so... I guess I'll pick one that's available in store.

I've never heard of either one.

In general, the brands I'd stick to are OCZ, Thermaltake, Antec, Cooler Master, and -maybe- Rosewill. I've currently got an OCZ power supply.

If that is what your computer guy has recommended, go with it.

He would be stupid to recommend bad gear, so I'm guessing when they do a 'custom build', if a PSU isn't specified that will be the type they use.

Well Seasonic are good (got one on old PC) but i prefer Cooler Master.
On this(new) PC i m using Cooler Master Real Power Pro RS-A00-EMBA (1000W). But it cost quite a lot of money.
