When you are at war you don't call the enemy beforehand and make sure they have the same number of forces you do. How about if we rely on someone who really feels they were wronged to complain as opposed to just restricting cap ship travels or hammering on people for using what's at hand to win. Of course if a fleet of caps shows up and actually starts something with a handfull of fighters by all means sanction away but really. The excess of rules and sanctions on here is seriously restricting gameplay. Sheild running, npc farming and using cruise should be an integral part of a fight as they would be if this was for real. I personally hate the 30 second fights, make em chase you and figure out how to kill you using whatever tactics you can. No unfair advantage if I cruise to get away and someone else uses it to catch me. Let us use ALL the tools in the box.

Secondly we are a universe at war people and that's the whole point of the game. Cease fire agreements and ship restrictions are just stifling that. If you don't want to fight go play Kingdom Hearts. Otherwise, organize forces and fight back. I'm sick of "guarding" home systems waiting for something to happen and then getting whined at from whoever loses a fight. Getting beaten is supposed to light a fire under yer ass to get better and fight back, not scream at the admins for rules to restrict the enemy until it's a "fair fight". Fights always have a winner AND loser and nobody likes losing but that's life so deal.

Well, to be honest, ever gotten fought in your lonely vhf by a cruiser and a gunboat, who then call you a coward when you run, then throw a personal oorp insult at you when you jump to another system?

Noone tells you you have to plan every battle. Use your common sense. There's many more unplanned than planned battles.

Why am I double posting? To express the futility and utter uselessness of this thread.

Yes but unfortunately there isn't millions of people logged on the server all set up with their ships and distrubuted amongst the factions according to Disco demographics. Instead a maximum of 200 can go in to best simulate the Galaxy. Game mechanincs prevent us from simulating the appropriate defence that would normally happen if a system gets raided. Instead we need to make notifications ahead of time so that the players aren't busy with other chars and are able to participate in the event and help create a realistic assault and a realistic defence. Unfortunately we see too many unnotified raids happening with caps ganking small ship and it hurts the suspence of disbelief to not see an organized defense put up because the assailants didn't make a public notice and work out a realistic invasion.

I also feel 4 hrs is too long to have to stay out after a death. It makes people far less ready to fight since they're done with that char for 4 hrs if they die. How about 1 hour? Not all of us have multiple accounts and game time to build a dozen chars for continuous play. As always just my opinion.
