If you want to have a coded message, PM it in game. If you want people to RP not being able to understand you, speak in false code. Just a bunch of scrambled letters and numbers, or just type "*Random static and buzzing fills your radio chatter*" Now if your goal is to try and speak in code that can be decoded, and do so all the time, i ask why would you want that?

The cylons either do not speak, or they speak in english. When they do speak in english it is to communicate their intent. They dont hide what they wish to say to those that they say it to.

If you need to encode what you say so others dont understand it, just dont say it in system chat. Partial message decoding has been done a few times here.

Dab was flying a drone ship, and all of that post was pretty much spoken in game.

Thats one of the best examples of coded transmission being done that i can think of.

Now, im starting to not understand your goal. Do you want your speech to be a coded transmission, or do you want it to sound robotic?

Or both?

Both. ***Is for robotic***, and we use it.

Out for now, will be back later to continue about the subject.

As much as I dislike adding the non-FL cylons to this RP server I do like the direction you're taking with radio communications. Having partially discernable messages in system chat is a good RP thing. Typing everything in the queen's english isn't RP and it isn't necessary for understanding of what is going on in the system.

English-only is there to ensure this server population is managable, not to make text on the screen pretty. If garbled up psuedo robitic numeric speech takes the form of leet-speak alphanumerics, then IMO that's the one time it's acceptable to use on the server. They're not jackarsing around claiming their elite status by saying ***r0g3r th4t***, they're setting a mood and a tone for their cyborg characters.

Works for me.

this COULD work but i would suggest molding it to blend in with Freelancer...yes there is a whole planet full of robots..to me that should be where your origin would be. i had tons of ideas a while back about how the robots ran arcoss one of the Dom Kavash artifacts that made them self aware. see, kinda the same thing but geared toward freelancer. use some imagination, don't just copy something that's already been made because it both limits your RP and also makes it extremely uninteresting.

that being said i also think (even though they've been here a long time) that BSG should change their name also. along the same lines...heck keep the BSG tag but just make it stand for something else...Border Space Group for example.

i think a line has to be drawn somewhere in pulling ideas from other media, yes the ships are there but come on? use your creativity.

Don't ya guyz worry... we'll think of something...

But this is about a robotic race, not a band of human survivors from across the universe.

Good idea with 1337 - it's the only case I find such a solution good (otherwise I just despise the thing)

1337 is just flipping anoying, if you ask me..
It might look the most "cylon-y" but most people don't get it.
Allso, why would normal cylon soldiers need to talk to us humans anyway? It's not like they have to ask directions for the closest pub is it now..?

If you ask me, they don't have to talk. If their gonna act like true cylons, let their "skinjobs" do all the talking aboard their basestar, the forums in this case.

Just my 2 cents.

If you want to say something in Cylon, put some extremely random numbers/letters in chat, then something like; *Translation* (sentence here). Or *Decoding* (sentence here).

Robots don't talk to people in 1337 it's as simple as that...

Send text only messages, if you are robots, designed and programmed to kill BSG, you aren't designed to talk to the BSG, you're designed to kill the enemy. They wouldn't have built in much for chat... I'd prefer a "Signal Received, Decoding: -Enter message here-" , you could just skip that if you're in mid fight and talking to team mates. Like C3P0 and a Super Battle Droid... C3P0 talks to things, that's its function and that's all it does. Super Battle Droids kill stuff, that's basically all they can do, and all that they are ever ordered to do. Mixing the two would be weird, and the Geonosians just wouldn't make a "Inhumane killing machine that cares" you would have basic speech functions to communicate fairly basic points... When you get back to the Cylon mother ship, you connect to more advanced "speech subroutines" and you can communicate a lot better...

Dreygon...? I agree, I agree and I agree...

... Yeah... I have to agree with Gezz. You aren't going to be hearing over your radio, "H three one one zero, Hu Forward slash, back slash, forward slash, back slash, four N."

You might hear, "Hello, Human." Or some inane chatter like in Transformers. Like, "RAWR NOISE THRUM BEUZZ BUMMMMM..." --- "All hail Megatron!" being the translation, but still not comprehendable to humans... Which is why they talked in English to threaten Sam for the glasses and whatnot.

Just... Talk like people. All the previews (I've never watched... But I'll keep my personal opinions as to why to myself) its like, "*taunting ENGLISH speech while person is hog-tied to chair*"... And the Asian lady... Isn't she a Cylon or something? She never talks funny... Maybe I'm wrong though.
(^^^^^^^^ Not trying to be racist... I just don't know her name 'cause I don't watch^^^^^^^)
