Perhaps altering the speed/tracking of the more powerful disrupters could work, thus forcing a player to choose between a CD made for stopping caps and one made for stopping snubs. Alternatively, make powerful CDs only mountable on larger ships. That said, this idea isn't bad at all and could be pretty interesting.

PvP abuse, IMO.

Maybe that could work, leaving NPC's CD's outside of guard systems to stop interfering with mid-low trade ships.

Meh, I think the train should stay on snub craft, pirates have to deal with so much as is, and military bombers need to keep their prey in reach somewhat. Though, one hit 'kill' CD's bug me.

I'd still like to know if a mechanic like this is even possible.

As far as I know there are just 2 values for cruise engines...

1 not disrupted
0 disrupted

So I dunno how to implement this without extensive work. Someone else knows?

Just my idea here but how about we make CD drains energy rather than making you stop, once your energy goes completely down you come to a stop, there are varied amounts of enregy drain dependig on the type of launcher/CD that is fired. Just an idea. I know it's the same thing but it would be possible correct? Or maybe if possible we add a engine damage system so if you shoot someone's engine enough their cruise speed drops so you can catch up and finish them.

This could be implemented in another way/on another path.

I noticed in some nebulas you loose cruise speed as soon as you enter and get it back when you come out, so there must be a function to temper with the speed of a vessel "on the fly".

So it could be possible to implement a function that takes away (for example) 15% of cruisespeed for a periode of 20 seconds per CD hit from a Train Cruise Disruptor, 20% for 30 seconds per hit from a Reinforced Cruise Disruptor etc. etc. This as "adding penalty per hit effect" could then lead to braking the cruise completely if the chasing vessel(s) manage to inflict (for example) 60%.

@ #1 only

nice idea and compare that with new "balanced" disruptors

some with big range but small damage.

some with big damage but small range.

others with huge blast raduis but again - other stats which are bad for this bonus.

basicly change the hitpoint which is gettin hit by CD into a shield. give it the hitpoints you wanna have depending on class.
make sure CDs shielddamage is balanced to that + this hitpoint is pretty far in the ship so it cant by guns etc.
set the time it takes to recharge etc.
say FLhook that if "engineshield" = down = nocruise

edit2 about edit1: problem found... for example a BS missle with pretty high blast raduis or a torpedo would disrupt the cruise then as well.... Q__Q

edit3: woops... old thead is old.

Most heavier missles like BS missle are way to slow to hit a cruising vessel and the realy fast ones do no damage.
