Any trading vessel of any gallic faction can leave gallia for matters of TRADE (or smuggling) it may also be escorted by vessels of the same/different faction. (which is logic for it to escort...brigad escorting GMS WRONG...WRONG I SAY!)

First, it's Brigand. B.R.I.G.A.N.D. You always write it wrong, even in your Council thread :nono:

Also, Brigands escorthing GMS? wtf? When did that happen?

Quote:b.Gallian faction ID'd ships (non-military, pirate or police factions) can move outside Gallia (this means that the ships in a. above can have escorts.)

One word prevents the Corse, Brigands, and Maquis from escorting their smuggling ships past the Taus and edges of Outcast space if they aren't in transports or freighters. Does it make sense? Not one iota. You can however, hire freelancers/mercenaries/etc to scout deeper into Sirius for you.

As Phoenix said, the announcement was very unclear and the admins have failed to clarify it. So people will do what they want until someone gets sanctioned over it. Which is BLEH, because the rule is so unclear.

Are you ignoring the escort part for some reason? Or did you read 'cannot'?

To me it's fine that the Gallic pirates can trade but must not pirate outside of Gallia.

I'm not ignoring any part of it. IT says that faction ID'd ships that aren't of the military, pirate, or police factions may move outside of Gallia as escorts. This means that the pirate factions, Maquis, Brigands, Corse; cannot escort their transports/freighters past the area that they can already operate. Which is the Taus and edge of Outcast space.

Does it make sense? Nope. Do I care if you do it? Nope. Do people do it? Yep. Why? The annoucements aren't clear enough for any concrete view on the matter. I've merely gave my interpretation of it. Had you read my post in its entiretely you'd have understood that.

I'm also of the mind that anyone sanctioned for having a Corse, Maquis, or Brigand outside of the Taus and wasn't pirating to be BLEH. Since the rule on the matter is so grey.

@Daedric
They can go past their ZoI but only as escorts they can't do anything else but escort.

A simple re-arrangement of words fixes all wrongs.

Non-military factions would include, I imagine, the corporations and Council/Maquis.

Perhaps it would have been better to say (pirate, police or other non-military factions) for further clarification.

Perhaps it is just me projecting my view onto the Corse, but I have never seen the Corse as Pirates in the strictest sense. The current RP and in game play leans more towards them being a semi-legal outfit. They are permitted to land on Gallic lawful bases, go largely unmolested by the Royal authorities and even occassionally work for the Royals in fulfilling bounty contracts. When one of them gets caught doing something illegal, they take responsibility themselves and never betray the Corse.
This all points towards them being more like a crime syndicate operating under the pretence of legality. Everyone knows they are dirty, but no one can prove it since there is no evidence and the Corse take their secrets to the grave.
In light of this, can they be classed under the lable of pirate in the Admin announcement?

Oh, and to test the waters for this kind of thing and maybe trip the rules trap so we get admin clarification, I have started flying my Corse fighter around Sirius, talking to various people about trading. All strictly inRP and no piracy. Simply setting up contacts who might want goods smuggled to them by the Corse. Hopefully that doesn't violate any rules but if it does, then no doubt I'll hear about it sooner or later.

So Maquis/Corse/Brigands can pirate in the Taus and trade to the houses of Sirius. Good to know.
