Freelancer crashes

okay i just reformatted me comp after i started getting the dreaded blue screen of death, so i get all my driver's installed and get the game installed etc. now when i start up FL after about 2 second's when i get to the main menu my game freezes for 2-3 seconds then restart's my computer. now i had this problem just before i reformatted my computer and i had to go onto a previous made user account that i made to get a new fl account to play the game.

thing's i have done to try and fix this are:

reinstalled the game about 3 times so far, tryed restoring my back up's, delete non existant auto save's, redownloaded the beta 4 mod and downloaded newest graphic's driver's (which makes thing's even worse) then rerolled em back to my original one

here are my computer spec's if needed.

2gb ddr 2 corsair ram
asus 7300le ( i know horrible but more than enough to play this game)
amd 3200 duel core proccesor

any help would be much appreciated cause i am all out of idea's myself.

Looks like a hardware problem.

I would check the fans.

im in middle of playing swkotor 2 that takes alot more graphical power to run than fl and that work's fine. don't think that would work if it was hardware

A couple of questions here to help find a solution.

Was it crashing after you installed a clean version of FL? I mean no mod manage no mods saved games ect.
Try installing into a different directory and run it clean first.

I know from experience that FL does not really like newer graphics card drivers.

You say you had BSOD before. Thats normally a driver conflict, Did you install a new driver , most probably sound or graphics just before the problem.

Are you running with automatic updates on? If its Vista with auto update turned on that updates some drivers as routine.

its okay i flattened my comp completely and now it work's i reckon it might have been my audio driver's being corrupt didnt like fl with em.

and yes,yes and no cruise thanks for the questions though im pretty sure if you told me them before i flattened my computer i would have realised it was my audio sooner

On my computer having 3D Sound activated ingame would always crash every time i go through a jumphole or jumpgate. Maybe you got a problem like mine. Of course, I've never played Freelancer on 98. I assume you are using 98 because I don't recall any other OS's having the BSOD.

xp pro is what im using and i have no idea where the BSOD thing came from did i say i had that i think im going senile early aged
