I actually found this happening some time ago so I made a conscious decision to change it.. So now I have a liberty Character, an outcast character, a Keeper... and im considering making a Police character somewhere.....
Generally though, my characters for the majority of the time spawn themselves... they are defined by their interrelationships more than location... which i think is a happy middle.
I'm amused that people have difficulty adjusting to a different country/region than the one they're from or that they play in, considering that a lot of people have no problem creating 19 year old female characters with Anime avatars (bonus points for crazy hair). Of course, it's possible that there's this huge server population of that demographic, but I don't really see it.
In terms of my characters though, I'd like to think its more a matter of personal preference than a region I feel linked to.
If you want to understand Kusari, watch a range of different anime. Enlgish subtitles, audio in Japanese, of course. After a while you get a sense of their style of social interaction, even if the anime itself is set in a neo-western society.

Gime my frikin bonus points then Sir.
I stick to Liberty because it is like america; I know the diction, sayings, etc, unlike Rheinland, with "Herr" and,all thst, or Kusair. I'm still trying to get my Kusari-speech rigjt.

I think that things like Herr shouldn't be necessary. You can use it to add some extra flavor to it, but many people really overdo it when zhey go like zhis. I find zhis sehr annoying.

Agreed.
Rheinland seems to be the worst for this. Not even the overload of Herr's and all sorts of ranks I can't recognize along with confusing words, but just the sheer cheesiness of people deliberating misspelling words to give the impression of an accent.

Eich ja sehr aergerlich. Look at how many words for emphasis I used! It probably doesn't even make sense anymore.
Anyway, I stick to a lot of the ways I am now in my RP. I'm a very casual person; very American. I joke a lot, especially when under stress. My characters often manifest themselves in the same way. A lot of them are rarely serious and instead of showing their stress in a serious, angry way they'll show it in the form of a nervous joke or chuckle. They use a lot of the same spoken slangs I do (short rs, cutting off the gs from gerunds). It's a lot more fun to me these days than the serious business that I used to do.
I guess what I'm trying to say is that we all have our preferences and we all have our fun in our way. Some people just don't like certain areas and that's okay. Other people like all areas and that's equally okay. More power to people having fun the way they want.
PS: All that Japan speak goin' on in Kusari? I think it's silly. German speak in Rheinland? Probably equally silly (though I understand it so less silly to me). At this point in human history, we probably have developed a universal language already. We might have different dialects, seeing that we're all lightyears away, but everyone should really just be speaking English or human or whatever.
[8:32:45 PM] Dusty Lens: Oh no, let me get that. Hello? Oh it's my grandma. She says to be roleplay.
[12:49:19 AM] Elgatodiablo: You know its nice that you have all that proof and all, Bacon... but I just don't believe you.
