I have officially mutinyed against the merge now. I've reformed ALG to it's previous glory and told kruger to go bugger off. Thankyou all for your emotional support.

edit: Option 3: You drop both factions, leaving the spaces open for others to fill, play your new faction under a generic ID, become official and after a year or so, you apply for your own ID.
This step wasn't only to save up faction spots, this's also progress for old good vanilla RP noone here cares about.
Still, I disapprove how it was done, so I'm up for option two, with little amendments to RP (I can elaborate on skype, if needed)
Quote:It shouldn't have to take a year, and nobody's going to want to wait a year. Apply for official status, yeah, dandy and all, but having your own ID should be a right that comes with officiality. You know as well as I do the majority of official factions do not and will not ever be getting their own IDs, for reasons I still fail to understand.
More rights that come with officiality, yes, indeed. That, I have no problem with, in principle. And exclusive IDs - in principle I also don't disagree. A whole server full of factions with no shiplines to control or npc faction roleplay to determine, I can live with.

New IDs for all 60 official factions (who account for around 10% of all activity on the server) is possibly a low priority (especially when it is for those factions that can't meet the laughably low levels of activity required to remain official.)
It shouldn't mean people just get their own ID simply because they want one. Nor should it presented as an ultimatum to us. (Like in the case here - give us an ID or allow us to bypass the rules.) If you aren't playing X faction, why make that faction in the first place?
Although maybe the real issue here is that we are trying to fit square pegs (players) into round holes (the mod and server rules).

Great, shiny.

Lol? I said it should be a right that factions should have when they become official. The VR and VE should've gotten their own IDs, the LE should get theirs. They never did because of some invisible rule about out of the box things being bad. And yeah, the RoS got their own ID, but that's simply because the NovaPG ID was repurposed, AND the RoS have existed since p'much the begining of time.

Sorry to burst your bubble here, but yeah, it actually should. Only a faction itself can say how it should properly be represented. They know more about their roleplay than you do, believe it or not.
A custom ID for a faction who doesn't want one is useless. If they don't ask for one, then they obviously don't need one. If they do ask for one, there amazingly is a pretty high chance that they could be in need of a custom ID to better reflect their original roleplay.

I never said anything about the integrity of the OP's post, and I fully agree with you on this matter. However, a custom ID should be a matter of a weekly admin vote, not six months of debate and another six months of laziness. It's really not that big of a deal.

This has little to do with server rules and everything to do with existing lore. As long as a new faction does not damage existing lore, there isn't much of an issue in my eyes.
Same as when the HF asked to have their ID revised. High command of the faction proposes it, admin team either approves or denies it in the weekly vote. If denied, then a reason given as to why is included, along with advice at how to better their chances of receiving their ID.
Edit: Also this.
[5:08:47 PM] Xal (Cameron): Also, easy.
[5:08:55 PM] Xal (Cameron): You just give them a template, they fix it up, job done!
[5:09:14 PM] Xal (Cameron): If there's a template what's the big deal? It's already done, the factions can figure out the formatting.
[5:09:54 PM] Xal (Cameron): Just stick it up, let them adjust it and put in their info. It'd be no different from modding the sanction report template to fit a sanction, something the admins process on a daily basis anyway.
