Title says it all really. A few days ago, I told the rest of the admin folks that I intended on leaving the admin team, and I have done so. I wish good luck (and more importantly, patience) to the rest of the admin team, and whoever may be brought into it in future.

Just going to give a little note to you guys as well.

The admin team for the most part act in the best interests of the community. Sometimes they get it wrong, sometimes they screw up... Sometimes the PM you send to an admin will get burried in the stack of 30 PMs and not get read. Forgive it. They're busy. They're also human.

In my opinion, discovery should not need an admin team. The spirit of the rules, roleplay and (in my opinion) fair play, should be things which are just instilled within the players as they arrive here. A situation like this would mean that at no point would punitive or reactionary measures be required in responce to breaches of the rules.

You can help discovery get to this point. Make life easy for the admin team. That doesn't mean agreeing with their every action, it doesn't mean passively sitting down. If you have a problem with something, tell them. Politely, calmly, without anger, without crying "conspiracy", without making a big fuss. Just tell them.

The passive and opinionless people are just as bad for the admin team as the needlessly angry and hostile people. How can you know if you're doing the right thing, if you recieve no feedback? It's your job as players to ensure the feedback you're giving is constructive and helpful and doesn't consist of deliberately trying to make people angry.

The admins are trying to improve this place, slowly, by bits and peices. It can't happen overnight. When they try something out, or trial a change in the rules, just wait until you've found out how it works, play the game a bit, and then give your feedback on it. Don't complain straight off the bat because you think x or y unpleasent things might happen.

Between players and admins, this place can grow, and become more than it currently is, but the players and admins need to support one another in achieving it, and engage in some meaningful and non hostile dialogue. After all, you're all after the same thing.

To the people who do like to yell the word "conspiracy", I have the following message.

You're an idiot of truly remarkable proportions.

Anyway... It's been a pleasure being an admin for the most part. One hell of a long ride, and one that's had ups downs and all the bits in between. I have other things I need to think about now, and new priorities.

I'll still be around disco, I'll still be leading the [LN], and it'll all be good. Infact if anything I'm likely to actually play the game more.

Now... Gotta find Matt to turn all this admin stuff off so the forum doesn't look so ugly.

So does this mean they'll be recruiting someone to replace you? I feel sorry for that guy. Being an Admin must be a horrible job. :mellow:

In any case, thanks for the hard work. At the very least you can now call yourself a philanthropist.:P
