Okay, so every corporate ID has the line "May attack pirates and terrorists (....) or in defense of corporate bases of the same affiliation"
What exactly does this mean? I mean obviously, people generally don't literally attack NPC bases.
Does this mean I can attack a pirate or terrorist lurking in the vicinity of my base?
Or do they actually have to fire shots at the base.....which would make the line entirely pointless.
If I were at Kensington in a Gateway ship, and I saw a Corsair/Molly lurking outside the base, I think I would certainly have RP cause to tell him to leave the vicinity or risk being engaged.
Pob's are considered players as far as I know, so attacking a POB is much like attacking a player. Regarding NPC bases, even though it does not take damage, It's a rp enviorment, same way I engage whenever people break the NFZ and shoot the freeport, So yes you can engage.

Considering PoBs as players is a huge mistake, at least for the mere fact that the two differs vastly as well as interaction with each. Based on the differences between players and PoBs, I don't think the two can be considered equal in terms of rules, gameplay, roleplay, or anything else.
Well I agree, but some things cannot be changed such as attacking a base ( make it pob or npc ) requires RP, therefore base owners or affiliated characters may engage to defend it. But such things can't always be 100% explained because it depends on the situation, thats why I always considered the ID as a"guideline". For instance, The second amendment protects the right to keep and bear arms and yet not everyone can bear arms. ID's for me are guidelines, you and the way you behave shapes your actions, and if it makes sense, its legit.
