Abuse of faction tags

Isn't it illegal to maliciously use a faction tag of a faction said person does not belong to?

I was notified recently that a "VR-Syn" assisted in the sabotage of Malaclypse Freeport, and I know for a fact this person is not a member of VR, I choose my members carefully.

Given that this person exploited a faction tag of a faction that he/she does not belong to, isn't that against the rules? Nevermind the docking with the base to glitchkill it.

I would have said so, yes. Don't you need permission to be accepted into an official faction by it's leaders? So posing as a member falsely to point the blame towards that faction for a POB destruction is breaking rules.

First question is: Was / is your Faction tag protected by a password? If not...well, there you go.

if you don't want others make characters with your faction tag, probably you should password protect it. At least this is why that option exists.

Doesn't sound like it was a glitchkill, read this post by the server admin who looked into what happened.

Right, looked into this and reported the findings back to TAZ leadership. This wasn't bug abuse. Someone took that base apart from the inside by deleting all goods on it using the base admin password. TAZ has the names of the accounts that were used in this, along with all alts. How they deal with the party responsible is up to them I suppose

what happens if you loose whole crew? water? oxy? and some other stuff? what happens if i as a member come to your station and get so close to you and then betray / getting needed info to change base settings/ Discarding your stuff?

A: VR isnt an official faction.

B: Thats what tag passwords are for.

C: I think there was a rule against using enemies tags, such as a RM using the LNS tag, but I dont see that rule anymore, maybe its been removed.

its only an abuse of faction tags if you protected VR- as a tag and the person does not want to remove their tag.
