Why was this guy sanctioned for docking on a lawful base with smuggled cargo, when admins told me that this wasnt against the rules, and a FR5 would have to be applied?

Docking with contraband on a lawful base is not against the rules.

But docking with contraband while interacting with a lawful player(s) is against the rules.

Not according to the admins in the second thread I posted, and the PMs I received, when I filed the sanction reports on smugglers docking after my BPA had arrested them.

Docking while smuggling and confronted by a lawful isn't a break of rules, since RP wise, it's similar to "making a run for it".

Buuuuut maybe it could be argued it's similar to escaping a PvP fight by docking, altough freighters/transports have a bit of swing in some of those written rules.

Well the guy in the first link just got sanctioned for Docking while smuggling, and being confronted by a lawful. Which is why im wondering wether its against the rules or not, when the admins contradict each other?

I was the one, who reported the guy.

It involved him being a total tard in system and PM after he docked.

While interacting? not really you are then considered PVP death in the utmost case. And guess what, you may leave the system if you like.

Also Hone, you can't tell from the sanction notice but it is quite possible in this case that shots had been exchanged between the LPI and the offending players. Admins won't necessarily spell out every last part of the sanction, as it's more for the benefit of the person who got sanctioned.

I don't know if that is the case, but could be quite possible.

When I first started playing Disco years ago, I remember I ran some smuggling routes and I got stopped a couple of times near places like Manhatttan or Cambridge -- when asked to stop, I just gunned towards the planet (since that's what I think any respectable smuggler would do if he thought had a chance to get away with it).

One time in Brettonnia I was shot upon by lawfuls near a JumpGate, decided to go for it, made the jump to the next system, and then ran half the system on cruise speed with then in pursuit until docking in a station that I was going to sell the goods. Nothing ever happened to me, but I was inRP the whole time and I never docked "to escape", I only docked at the place I was making the final drop, just like movie smugglers.

I think that it's not mandatory to stop and drop your cargo by Sirius Law/Disco Rules, after all, breaking the law by disobeying an officer is just one of many more fun facts of being a smuggler. Fleeing in a legitimate pursuit for (instead of moneyz and metagaming) can be a great RP experience. Han Solo would never drop the cargo if he thought he could get away with it or run/fight for it.

AFAIK it has never been against the rules to dock while being pursued, and the only thing you can do is get FR5 to make them hostile

In this case, I imagine that the 6.9 is because a junker docked on an Lib Navy battleship, not because they were smuggling. That has always been a diplomacy grey area, and doing it while being pursued by the law is a solid no-no.
