I don't get it. There is no star from what I can tell, nor are there any planets to speak of.
There are only a few dark matter clouds.
Was there a reason Kepler didn't have a star included in vanilla lore? Did they just randomly jump there? Did they discover the jump holes first?
Is it safe to assume that the single line of text referring to "Ichi Matsuo" is the explorer who not only discovered the Kuryo cloud, but the entire Kepler system?
Just curious is all....it appears to be the only system without a star from what I can tell.
If there is one and I'm just not seeing it....oops.
From what I can remember, there is a rumor that mentions early jumpgates having a specified distance limit. As a result, there are those intermediate systems between houses. With that in mind, it may just be the midpoint? Also, didn't the dark matter arrive after stuff was already built there?

I dunno to be honest.
I assumed that's why they built Ames, but I may be wrong as I don't think I've ever read anything definitive on the subject.
Seems strange, although i guess Magellan doesn't have a star either now that I think on it a bit....
Thanks for clearing that up.
Was just curious. For what it's worth, Ames must have a huge heating bill.

Yah, your right. I never really payed too much attention I suppose. I guess Galileo is even more desolate in that case.
I believe Kepler is the reason Behind the Northern Lane Hackers, for precisely the reason you pointed out; it didnt need to be. Apparently Agiera made up some story about how Gallileo was going to be hit by Dark matter or something, to get Liberty to pay them to build another route through kepler. Then when it came out, they fired some guys as scapegoats, who resented it and became the Northern Lane Hackers.
Something like that, I was never clear, but thats aprox what I gleaned from various rumours and infocards around there, i've wondered about the full details myself, maybe Echo can tell you more.
Not sure, but this might have something to do with it; from the Wiki:
Leiden Base was built in 782 A.S. by a group of former Ageira Technologies employees after the Galileo bypass scandal resulted in several executives and an elite development team being forced out of Ageira. They quickly got in contact with the Lane Hackers at Mactan,
Ames Research Station was originally constructed in 677 A.S. by Deep Space Engineering, to investigate the strange dark matter clouds that were in the eastern areas of the system, and also to study the dark matter storm that was scheduled to pass through the system in 684 A.S. As it happened, the storm entered Kepler 104 years later than it was expected to, destroying the old trade lane that passed through the western area of the system and rendering it extremely dangerous to travel through. Deep Space Engineering incurred heavy financial losses during the construction of the new lane to the Shikoku Jump Gate, and as a result their operations on Ames were scaled back almost completely to the point of abandoning the station.

That's not entirely correct because I believe there must be some point of light hidden somewhere at distance to lit the system in any way even if it's not clearly seen.
For the sake of completeness, here is the rumor related to the limited distances:
Quote:This system only exists as a way point on the Jump Gate routes because the distance between Hamburg and Texas was longer than the six-light-year limit of early Jump Gates. Before the Trade Lanes were built, the asteroids caused constant problems with shipping.

Magellan and/or Cortez should logically have been established for the same reasons as Bretonia is farther from Liberty if I recall correctly.
