Yeah, started playing MWO recently and it seems that the wiki does not offer a lot of explenation for this. I know that MWO is a part of maaaany games with the same setting and world. I was wondering if anyone can point me towards the source or something. A book, novel or something.

You're going to want to, erm, acquire a copy of a 1984 tabletop roleplaying game called BattleTech, by FASA. That's the universe MechWarrior takes place in.

Most of the best mechwarrior novels are the ones written by Michael Stackpole, and the Gray Death Saga, and Robert Thurston's Jade Phoenix Trilogy, imo.
(and I own over 40 Battletech books, just fyi. It was kinda my thing back in the day.
