I've seen in a few rule clarification posts that people are saying Traders/Smugglers do not always have to abide by the 4hour rule of not entering a system they have been killed in?!?
I do not understand this.
There should be zero difference between a trader/smuggler being killed and anyone else being killed. Every rule applies to everyone equally.
well the rule does have a flip side. once you kill the trader, and they continue to trade (though you still have to let them leave the system if they spawn where you killed them) you can kill them as many times as you come across them.
meaning that yes they can ignore the 4 hour rule but in contrast they are also exempt from the re-engagement rule
once you killed the trader good thing for that trader would be to use another trade route (its a MUST)...if he tries to use same trade route and he comes your way again, well...hes out of luck isn't it? (and terribly out of RP and breaking the rules)....
anywho, just the re-engagement rule is void on them. i run into this a lot with Mon'Star so i made sure to ask an Admin about it. now i just blast them if i run across them again
Actually i asked this same question not long ago and the answer i got is. Pirate kills trader, trader comes back through pirate kills trader and so on and so on and so on. As Dreygon said trader find another route.
<strike>My opinion: If a trader opens fire first and dies 4 hour rule should apply. however if the pirate fires first (more likely scenario) the 4 hour ruld should NOT apply.
In the second scenario this would be a pirating event that went bad. Most likely the trader was not able to get an effective shot off or drain his shields below half. Trader is still piratable.
In the first situation the Trader opens fire initiating PvP and all pirating is over. 4 hour rule applies. Trader may do this because he feels he has an advantage or has a chance to get away.</strike>
Now that I read this none of it makes sense! My head hurts.
