Hey folks, quick question. To keep my alts alive, do I just need to log in and out, or must I also undock/buy or sell something?
If I just log in and out, how long will it keep that character alive for?

Thanks.

I think it needs to be logged in for a few minutes. I tend to fly from 1 base to another, just to be sure

I simply do it like this. Log in, undock, fly around a planet, dock and let it basekick you.

PSA: If you have been having stutter/FPS lag on Disco where it does not run as smoothly as other games, please look at the fix here: https://discoverygc.com/forums/showthrea...pid2306502

It hasn't deleted any of my ships yet, and I only log in and log out again.
Other people claim that's not enough though.

Some people say that buying something and selling it again will make sure the ship won't get deleted.
Others say you need to undock.
And then there are people saying you need to be online for a certain time.
Some also say a cash transfers ensure the ship doesn't get deleted.

Overall it seems like a big mystery with probably only Cannon really knowing how it works.
Because even some other admins couldn't get me a clear answer.

Ah, so it is necessary to actually move around a bit, not just log in and out. How often do I need to do this?
Keeping an army of alts is proving exhausting, might scrap some of them.

Basically, all the options people are suggesting works. The reason behind it is, to define how the inactivity wipe system works: A character with no action logged for 6 months will be automatically deleted from the database. Now with that in mind, people tend to pick whichever "action" convenient to them. Undocking, selling or buying cargo, entering a command, etc. are all considered logged actions and you simply need to do one of them to make sure your char will not be deleted for the next 6 months.

What I personally do is to log the char, sell and rebuy a nanobot, and log off. That's enough to keep the char "active", and there are a lot of accs I'm keeping alive for other people who're on a break from Disco. I don't fly them, and simply do what I mentioned above once every few months. None of the chars have been wiped even though some of those accs have not been used at all for over 2 years now.
