All the fuss in O49 has got me to thinking, how do we resolve land battles and invasions. In my opinion, it look like a pretty non ending stream of engagement after engagement with some good rp, but a lot of stuff to muddle through. What if we used a game like one of the C & C games or something else.

Live action Disco PVP, hand to hand melee somewhere in the world, behind an abandon warehouse >.>
<.< I see your idea though, kind of like the Dust game that works with EVE, although not sure how C&C would connect to our universe

Play any sort of ground based RTS, come up with a map and whatnot, have matches, winner takes area, etc.

Worst comes to worse, we roll the dice and see who wins.

World in Conflict would be a viable candidate if it wasn't so....pre-spaceflight

I'm sure there are sci fi mods for world in conflict you could download.

Alternatively there is also Supreme Commander, the CNC series and less well know RTS's that are just as good such as Ground Control II and Act of War.

I suppose you could pretend the robots in supcom are just infantry.

or the 2 sides could just chat and discuss what happens in a particular event .... i.e side A invades a planet occupied by side B.

example ahead:

the heads of side A and B chat and discuss what battles will occur and what happens.... for example: Side A wins the initial battle on landing and advances x distance. Side B counterattacks at that point and manages to push back side A y distance. both sides regroup then have one huge battle at point z which side b ends up winning and forces side a to retreat.

playing a game to decide it..... while feasible really depends on the ability of the player. not to mention any arguments about what to play to decide it.

Planetside 2 could work... It's futuristic, got nice guns, and even has air vehicles.
