As already discussed and set up, here's the event. Fear not, Bretonia, for formal messages will be sent more than soon.

Date
  • Saturday, 5th Octobre
    Sunday, 6th Octobre

Background
  • Pirate activity has become a significant problem in the Omega systems. The dangers for traders and other civilians increase, while the respective military forces don’t have enough operations within said territory, which requires expansion. Escorts are free to be pirated in the respective connections between Omega-7, Omega-3 and Cambridge. A delegation, carried by a Rheinland cruiser and protected by military wings will be send to New London to dover the subject.
    Through various spies and other sources, the corsairs and red hessians know of hte meeting want to prevent this meeting from happening, and set up ambushes to make sure that their pirate locations don’t get crowded with too many military forces.

Plot
  • A RM Cruiser, accompanied by snub escorts, will leave Planet New Berlin and head for Planet New London. On the way there, both red hessians and corsairs can choose a location and set an ambush up. Route of the convoy: http://imgur.com/a/8gpdq
    The cruiser may only fly beneath the lanes in cruise speed, and on impulse speed (no thruster) infight.
    Each side will have to fight enemy forces off until there are only ships of one side alive.

Rules of engagement
  • When the RM cruiser has less than 50% of his hull left without any regens, he is considered disabled. The cruiser has to use shield batteries when less than 50% of the shield is left until they are depleted. He also has to use Nanobots before half of the hull is shot down, until they are depleted This should hopefully send a signal to the players that the cruiser is disabled at one point. Once disabled, the cruiser will not be a part of the battle anymore, and has to stand still with weapons disabled.
    At this point, the cruiser may not be fired upon anymore, as that would open the chance for the VIPs to eject upon destruction and get brought away by the fighter escorts. The cruiser may move away from the fight a little to prevent rogue missiles or mines hitting him.

    The last ship of any side should try to get home to report to their respective superiors, and to host more followup events.

    Restocking at a nearby station is not permitted when an ambush has started and has not finished yet. Leaving the scanner range of the cruiser (14k distance) can result in the assumed death, to prevent restocking in fights.

    Military forces may restock at stations between ambushes. When Military pilots die during an ambush, they may return to the convoy and continue with their participation when the ambush ended due to pirate groups being chased off or dying.

    Victory Condition
    • The Rheinland Military forces will win if they successfully manage to drive the ambushes off and / or keep them busy, resulting in the cruiser arriving at New London.
      The Corsairs or Hessians will win if they manage to disable the cruiser and chase off or kill every enemy ship. Both sides have then the option to finally destroy the cruiser or capture it along with the crew. The latter opens the option for a followup event which would include a strike-force trying to liberate the cruiser and its crew / passengers.


    Ship usage
    • All factions are permitted to use any light fighter, heavy fighter, very heavy fighter, super heavy fighter, freighters, bombers and transports.
      The Rheinland Military will also have one cruiser that will however not actively participate in the fight, but mostly sit around, and sometimes attempts escaping.

    Roster
    • No registration required anymore. Official members and indies alike are welcome, although they have to follow the orders of the officials to ensure fairplay.

Question/Stuff I thought should be pointed out:
Things look exceptionally grim for the RM. The Saris and the Hessians will attack at different sites, I pressume? If so, then even if the RM convoy survives the first amubush, it sure as heck won't pull through the next.
Five bombers at the first ambush will put the cruiser out of comission fast. Of course, the pirate factions will have to be very careful of their bomber/fighter ratios ooRP, seeing as the first ambush party (in all probability the Hessians) will have to take on the cruiser *and* the second ambush party when they come to claim the spoils from them.
Might want to make that pondering iRP? By letting each other know?

First off, freedom of choice. Who says that it won't turn into a 'threeway' fight? RHA and Corsairs can ambush wherever they want. They know the route and the time of departure, and number/amount of ships through spies.
It is encouraged to have fairplay during the fights, which means that if for example the corsairs decide to attack the red hessians during the ambush, the RM/BDM will attack the corsairs so it isn't a gank on one faction.

If you bring five bombers, that's okay. Does probably make you more vulnerable against the fighters if the cruiser is disabled.

The 'first ambush survived, second looks grim then' is 'solved' with the following:

Have you thought about involving BAF as well? The BAF would have escorts ready to take the delegation to New London from Cambridge and maybe after the first ambush RM would send out a distress signal or something...

I originally intended to include BAF, but then I thought about issues when the ambush happens to be in New Berlin or Stuttgart, which would be quite far out for the BAF to send an emergency wing and the access would be quite problematic.
However, if the escorts fall like flies, an emergency message for the BAF to step in could be send, with the agreement of all parties.

No set-in-stone participation though.

Restricting the bombers to max 2 would insure fun fights if you want to include baf you can also call the mollies and makse small side event in new London at Cambridge gate bar waiting to escort the cruiser get attacked by molly force or something like that
