Ok I have two towers for my rear speakings of my 5.1 setup. It's been making popping sounds, fine, I unplug the entire system. Speakers are not connected to anything......the sound continues....to happen.
<,< Any random guess as to what's happening? There is no voltage going through....there is no other way for the voltage is to go through... perhaps damaged compactors?
If it's happening while the speakers are unplugged from any audio source, you've got two likely options:
1. Something electrical in the vicinity is inducing a large amount of interference into your speaker system. You wouldn't happen to have placed (part of) it on top of a power supply or near a fluorescent lamp? I'd suggest leaving the speakers plugged in and start unplugging/switching off your other electrical devices and check if anything reduces or eliminates the noise.
PS: If I misinterpreted you and it's happening while the speakers are off and unplugged from both the mains and any audio source, the above is pretty much the only possible cause of your issue.
2. Or, as I presume you're trying to say when you mention "compactors" (capacitators?), you could have a broken power supply. If you've got a multimeter lying around I'd suggest having a look at the output voltages of your PSU and checking if they are where they should be (probably 12V; have a look around on the power supply/amplifier or in the manual, the PSU output voltages shouldn't be too difficult to find).
A friend of mine speakers spoke something like Chinese radio chatter quite regular when they are were in stand by even with 3,5mm jack unplugged. Same story later with the whole system unplugged.
None believed him till one day it happened again when 4 others were there as well.

I had the same problem. A friend gave me two cylinder things, which pop open in the middle and have magnets in them. Against my better judgement I made two loops for all the speaker wires though them and...it actually worked. Duerp.

Used to get barely audible radio chatter through my old speakers sometimes, was quite funny sometimes...
I never bothered to look into it. But swapped from Stereo to 5.1 speakers of a different kind/brand and now it's all fine and dandy quiet.
Your room is bugged, or there is a radio or a cellphone tower nearby. If they are up against a wall and there is an electrical line running through that wall, speakers will sometimes pick that up.
