Ageira was originally founded under the name of 'Valhalla Research' back in 44 A.S. Space travel was vastly different then. It used to take years of travel to get to neighboring solar systems! Could you possibly imagine what kind of problems that could cause? But after its founding, Valhalla Research had found the way of reproducing the engines used in the Sleeper ships, and making them small enough to be used in every day ships! The new engine could take ships to nearby systems in only a handful of months, instead of years. Still, that's quite different than what we have today, isn't it?
A few decades following the creation of these amazing new engines, the Liberty Commincations Corps. ship, known as the Einstein, arrived in the neighboring territory of Rheinland. This was an astounding feat, as this was the first time that we had actively communicated with another House. In exchange for the new 'Valhalla Drive' that powered our ships, Rheinland gave us their valuable techniques and technology for space construction. But the real game changer was when the LLC Edison encountered Bretonia. In exchange for Valhallas drive, they gave us their research on advanced materials and technology. This is where the technology you see every day begins to be designed!
In the year 120 A.S, Valhalla revealed another amazing creation that made entry and exit of a planets atmosphere safe, reliable, and best of all, incredibly cost efficient! The first Docking Rings were built and put to use. Practically overnight, trade and exploration exploded into life in Liberty, and it became far more feasible to explore new planets, and gain access to their valuable resources.
This new technology was licensed out to the other Houses, and Valhalla Research made its fortune from it, allowing for the research and creation of their next big, and perhaps greatest creation. The Jump Gates.
Shrouded in secrecy, Valhalla designed their greatest development yet. The Jump Gates. Allowing for nearly instantaneous to neighboring solar systems, these gates took days, even months out of travel time, and allowed humanity to expand to the far reaches of the Sirius Sector. It was a long, hard trial, but after several decades of research (And Valhalla now being known as Ageira Technologies), the Gates were revealed to the other Houses, and as we all know, they were a smash hit! Ageiras wealth grew, and space travel became safer, faster, and easier.
It was nearly a century until Ageiras next wondrous, and perhaps most used development; Trade Lanes! Accelerating ships at speeds many times faster than standard cruise engines, trade and travel became even easier than before, and allowed for the massive, booming economy you see within Liberty and the other neighboring houses. You can only wonder what life was like without all of this technology, though.
Ageira Technologies took a massive hit in more recent times. In the production of another miraculous technology, Dallas Research Station was caught in a freak accident that destroyed the station entirely, and contaminated a portion of the system. The company fell quiet since then, and focused on the production of their already perfected technologies.
But now, after years of producing weaponry for small ships, the greatest engine drive ever created, and the two systems that made Sector-wide travel a breeze, what is Ageira doing now? That's a wonderful question, but Ageira has a question for you as well.
So you'd like to know just how our gates and lanes work, yeah? Well we can't tell you our secrets, but we can tell you what it results in!
Firstly, the Jump Gates! After decades of research, with the greatest minds behind the project, we at Ageira managed to do what was previously thought impossible; Creating wormholes!
Wormholes? Aren't those dangerous?
If it's not made by Ageira, then it most certainly is! Our Gates are more likely to have a stuck arm than to ever have a wormhole cause any sort of harm to a living person. This is why we always advise against using naturally formed wormholes, as well as Gates developed by Gallia. Studies have shown them both unreliable, and capable of collapse at any moment. Who knows what would happen to you should a wormhole ever collapse with you inside of it!
What about Trade Lanes? What kind of sorcery do those use?!
There's no sorcery or magic behind the trade lanes, don't worry! It's centuries of science put to use to create these space highways you and I use every day. But as to how they work?
Trade Lanes create a 'tube' in space between one ring and the next. While in this tube, time and space itself is compressed. While you may not realize it, you're technically going through space and time about a hundred times faster than people outside of the ring! But don't worry, this doesn't speed up aging or anything, it's just 'fast forwarding' your ship!
