Okay so basicaly here is my problem. I have pretty much very good PC there is probably no game out there that I cant run but when I start freelancer I have insane fps drops and spikes...I asked around and I found out that most of the drop comes from the ATI cards...for some reason Disco dislikes them. So is there a way to fix that?
have you actually tried a nvidia card?
its probably less a problem with the gpu and more a case of single-threaded game not using multicore cpu and therefore has reduced performance. my laptop, i5-3317+640M LE which is hyperthreaded stutters sometimes when playing and sometimes even just completely freezes every other application. My desktop, 4670+650ti on the other hand has... actually also experienced stutters when I was playing vanilla, although of course stutters were rare, but existent.

ATI HD 7850 working beautifully without any issues on my end, didn't modify anything, perhaps its a software or something else causing the issue, not the game and GPU itself?
My ATI HD5770 is fine with disco... just make sure you always keep the drivers updated. Turning hardwer acceleration off can also help as mentioned. So in general FL runs smoothly on ATI cards. Your processor vid card combo can cause problems too... so be sure everything fits. (like high end vid card + single or dual core cpu = waste of money)
