Possibly random rant!

Ok, here goes it. I know most players are here to win, but i found one situation quite awkard.

Deal is. I load transport ship (eg 3000+ cargo space) with for example:
Food 200, Water 200, Oxygen 200, Passengers 2000, Crew 5, Consumer goods 200 and some contraband 195.

Now any cop/navy/bhg/lawlolzor will scan me and demand i drop contraband. Ok, i know NPC cannot RP and he is program, but why does every single lawman stop me? Cant anyone pretend that they did not see little contraband in mass of other cargo?

Actually smuggling is not done in trains, with 5000 contraband, thats plain stupid(and i see them all the time when law isnt around, eg, no players online = metagame much) but it is done on side with your regular trade runs.

Now, players of the law will stop me even for one piece of contraband in haze of over 10 different commodities. This isnt cool, right or RP. Its actually bad RP on side of cops.

Also i found that "fines" are really too high. I understand KNF fining gateway for being in their space 5mils, but i dont see point of cop fining transport who carried contraband 10 mils, +destroyed cargo.

Most "contraband" goods are not forbidden, they are regulated, eg there are people that have licenses to transfer contraband around.

PS
On side note, i think inflation in sirius gone too high. In original single player, you were happy with cargo of 4 pilots because you could sell them for new gun on start. Or some more and you could buy better ship. Now we all trade in mils, like they are all there is. Pirate fine 2, police fine 5-10, traders earn 1.5-3 or they dont do route, arms dealers charge from 2-20 mils.... Not fun.

I think thats all

I simply agree here.

if there is 1 unit of synth Marajuwana amongst 3000 other commodities...The Synth should be ignored out. At the end of the day. How is taxing a trader that won't pay, killing him, tractoring the cargo, and selling it yourself/destroying it as a cop going to help anything?

For all you know, that synth marajuwana could be rapped in some nice glad-rap, up the pilots...Nevermind.

I disagree with the trading being meta-gaming. If a pilot puts the effort into finding the rout, buys the cargo, takes it to another base where it is in high demand and low quantity (RP wise) sells it takes the credits and flys off with another commodity...That pilot deserves the money. No matter how many "law enforcers" are on, what time of the day it is...Or how big their transport is. They worked for that too.

As long as its all in RP and they are doing an RP rout, and there is no "lol"is system chat. Its all good in the hood. :yu:

I hear you. Once I took the Sunbucks.Cafe|001 on a tour of Sirius with 7 Synth Mary J in my hold amongst a bunch of passengers, and some indie RM stopped me and demanded I dropped it. I was like "What drugs? Must be one of the passengers"

"i see u drop nub" was all I got, basically. Luckily, a pirate distraction saved me whilst I hit the lanes.

In Liberty fines are

4 milions (Half the profit made on a good run with good transport) for 2500 and + cargo

2 milions (Half the profit made on smaller transport) for 2500 and less cargo

If I see someone with, um, not a lot of contraband, ill just ask him to drop it.

I carry one counterfeit software unit as my zoner "photos" storage device (as counterfeit software is something like cd's and such, and as i explore, lane transmissions are not always available). And i had a cruiser stop my IMG DSE with ONE unit of CSoft among food, water, oxygen, my pilot, consumer goods, pharmaceuticals... basically, anything needed for a long exploration mission. All while everyone was shouting "there are keepers in the system!". I guess my counterfeit software unit was more important than 3 keepers that were roaming around NY...

That is the problem. Police seems to see ALL contraband. For instance i could be transporting Pharma as Cryer transport, and maybe i could squeeze 1/4 of cargo to be Synth marijuana. Now i would be stopped, and demanded to drop cargo what ever i say, however i try to reply or what ever i do. And i will loose part of my cargo + fine. Thats devastating.

For instance in that example my answer would be:
Police: Halt! You have contraband, drop it, and pay fine.

Me: No, officer you have mistaken. Those are new kind of medicals for radiation poisoning. I am transporting first batch to Mahattan.

Police: No it marijuana you drop it now or you die(yeah, it seems that sirius police is serious, and murderous)

Me: But officer, i am telling you it is a new medication! It does have some marijuana extract in it but it is Cryer certified medicine. Here, i will put you trough to my medical officer if you wish!

Police: Last time drop it.

Me: "This is X Y medical officer, please....

Police: PEW PEW PEW

Me: Boom

Now we all know this is how it would and will turn up in game.

That's the most you'll probably get from the lawfuls I've encountered (no offense). Contraband is a hard issue, as there are three main types: OORP smugglers to Manhattan (IE the ones who dive past the battlecruiser lawfuls to quick dock), ones who smuggle large quantities to unlawful bases. The ones who smuggle small quantities to lawful bases are obviously not doing it for the cash, but the in-game scanner is a great metagaming tool. It doesn't matter if you had 30 different commodities, or 500:1 pharmacutical:cardamine/synth ratio, you'd still be told to drop it or die.

On my first flight, I had a single unit of Counterfeit software representing a dodgy Ship OS. Some lawfuls even wanted me to drop it, although I explained what it was. It seems that people only read the description, and don't leave their minds open to new ideas for the different commodities.

Well, when i was cruising around with my Orbital Spa&Cruise char and had about 50 slaves in my hold (which are part of my RP) nobody told me to drop them. One of RM even thanked me for "smuggling" like this.
I don't sell them, cause they're my "freeworkers":P

Oh is there actually anybody who has a Spa & Cruise char?
Never seen one.

this is all true I also Play a liberty Rogue and a NovaPG all lawfuls I try and RP with them but all I get from them is gunfire when they find me and no talk I cant even get them to RP with me in System chat. Lawfuls are worst for wanting only PVP then the Mercs and Bounty Hunters.
Im sorry but I see more RP from Pirates and Traders then I see out of Lawful player characters.
