F1 Mining

I'm trying to drop ore in space, and then F1 out, swap to transport and then tractor it in.

Method 1)

Dropped ore, docked at station, used Disco Launchpad to switch char (takes some time), logged back in with transport, ore was gone, but it worked the first time with a nanobot.

Method 2)

Drop ore in space, F1 the miner right there, transport was already parked up, switch to him after 1 minute, transport is magically re-docked at the last station it was at.

How can I get this to work?

I don't know why I keep magically redocking after I F1 back into other char.

I just want to earn money to interact with players on my other characters that can't earn their own money.

And sometimes I play when there are like 20 players on, it's hard to find someone to interact with when hardly anyone is online.

And I already have someone to interact and mine with, but he's not online 24/7.

I guess trading is the better option when making money alone.

Well what timezone do you live in and have you considered joining a mining faction? Larger mining factions usually have members from lots of different timezones and you can organise and plan ahead to all get ingame together at a certain time to mine and trade etc. There are many factions you can join: IMG|, Platinum|, DHC- etc etc.

IMG convoy 2-3 times a day on weekends and such. Hook up with them.

use two accounts.

mine n drop, switch account, F1 in space, select new server, log into account two, scoop up ore and go sell it, return to the F1 point and switch back to your miner.

Occasionally when you log back in you are above the plane, but it you hit cruise asap you can generally get to the ore before your miner is gone (and the ore with it).

Bear in mind that npcs tractor up goodies now, so you'd best make sure that there aren't any around

The devs must have not done it right....I can still do it
I just drop the ore, and as long as both the ships are on the same account I can go back and the ore will still be there

Unless an NPC decides to tractor it in. NPCs are set up to clean space up - floating stuff creates lag and load on the server. If you want to solo mine, the Hegemon has a decent hold size again.
