I have had a problem for as long as I can remember. Every time my computer needs to render a new model, be it in a game, or anything that uses Direct X, my computer freezes for a fraction of a second. Now, in some games, where there are hundreds of things on-screen, or in games where a LOT of things show up at once, my computer will freeze anywhere from 1 second to 10 seconds, depending on how much is onscreen and how much is happening at once. Does ANYONE know why this might be occurring?

What other hardware is running on your PC?
Have you updated DirectX recently?
What rating power supply do you use?

firstly - the usual things... have you installed the latest and for that matter - correct drivers?
have you uninstalled the old ones correctly before installing the new ones?
are your windows settings set correctly? and is your computer cooled enough?
have you tried alternate drivers - like omega drivers? or the manufacturers drivers or the detonator drivers.
is your directx up to date? - have you run dxdiag in your systeminformation? - does it report any problems? have you run antivirus software or antispy sorftware? - or maybe you are running them continously which might slow your computer down.
If you're still stuck on an AGP slot you're mostly out of luck, but if this is a PCI-E card you should upgrade, even a cheap upgrade will give you better performance overall than anything in the Nvidia FX 5 series.
Yep, I am a PCI person. And I have looked for updates pretty much every week, and I just did about 2 or 3 hours ago.. Nothing.
As for different drivers, I have always had this problem... I just never really noticed until I started playing Air Rivals.. Now I notice that it happens in nearly everything, it just isn't always noticeable.

What I meant by that, is that there hasn't been an update for either DirectX or my Video card for quite a long time.
Regardless, I am thinking it might be time to get a new card..
EDIT: Damn I HATE when I contradict myself! There WAS a new version (CARD). Ugh, so much for my word...
EDIT EDIT: As for steps to take, I have done every single thing I could find. I have even bought new memory. It didn't seem to help my problem, but stuff sure loads a bit faster (heh).

I also have wondered from time to time if the Audio card wasn't causing problems sometimes, as as soon the computer unfroze, I would hear the sound of a thousand missiles firing (talking about Air Rivals as an example.) However, I always assumed that was a result of the computer's slowing down, not the card...
