Everytime I'm in my bomber, the capital ships open fire on me which makes it VERY hard to shoot my supernova. Battleships and cruisers are okay, since they're pretty much stationary, but Gunships/Gunboats are a huge problem, since they can move around pretty well. I can't joust since the bomber is so large that strafing won't work and my bomber is too large to be agile enough to get behind the Gunboat.

Anyone got any tips on how to shoot better?

Carlos Rivera: Corsair Brotherhood Pirate - Retired, shifted to Tripoli Shipyard's Research and Development engineering teams
Anthony Cameron: Guild Core Bounty Hunter - Killed in Action, committed suicide after being trapped in Omicron Minor following its destruction
Juan Ruiz: Outcast Ghost of Razgriz Pirate - Killed in Action, killed by the Sirius Coalition Revolutionary Army during Bretonian piracy raid
Michael Winchester: Liberty Security Force Agent - Missing in Action, likely killed during Rheinland espionage mission or trapped in Rheinland Space
Eric McCormick: Order Pilot - Retired, shifted to planetside training of new recruits

Liberty and Nomad Backstory, Very interesting - read it!

Which bomber are you using?

I know with my Havok Mk2 I don't have any real issues getting behind most GBs

The big thing is to try hunting in packs and you will be near unstoppable.

While the GB focuses on one bomber (and he dodges) you and the others can get on his tail and blast him.

I'm currently using a BH Bomber and a Havok Liberty Bomber. In my BH, I'm usually with a Gunship, so that isn't a problem, but in my LSF char, my bomber is usually with a group of fighters, so I'm the one targeted more. I haven't fought with another bomber yet. I'm too busy dodging that I can't get behind the GB and by the time I turn around, he's already in E-Kill.

Well, best advice is to just do alot of practicing. Maybe practice with the LSF fighters (If you can get good at hitting a fighter with a SN you can hit a gunboat easily)

first of all, if you try to solo a gunboat/ship without knowing how to fly your bomber properly, your going to die faster than a speeding cheetah that gets run over by a freighter on a railway line.

never try to solo a gunboat if you dont have shield busters. always have at least 1 more person with you helping if you can, and i dont mean that the other person is a noob at flying, cuz that dont really help you much now does it.

always try and keep behind the gb, and keep asking your mates who carry cds to fire a cd while the g is turning in EK. that gives you an advantage, in the sence that it opens a window where you can fire your supernova without having to worry about return fire.

(gotta rush, will put in more advice later if its not been said already)

Even if it's a noob, there's still hope for your success. Like me soloing a Lunchbox in a Sabre (with a newb who got blow into bits)

did by any chance your sabre have an inferno, including the other guy too? if so, you can solo a gb pretty easily.

try soloing a gb in a fighter that has full hullbusters and a razor (for example, my wrath) now thats pure evil rape..

1) Make sure you have the supernova in its own weapon group
2) Against large stationary ships: Twist and turn like a mad man, get into the habit of thinking of where you'll want to be when it's time to shoot again, work towards getting there while evading incoming fire. When it comes time to drop the hammer you might take a few hits, but you'll be able to concentrate on surviving again while recharing.
3) Against gunboats: If you have an inferno, you're in luck (or so I understand, as I've never used one. It would likely spoil me) as you can drop their shields quickfast and manage their shield regen. Without a Inferno you can use a mini to a lesser extent, or a nice rack of debs. But if you're running shy on those commodities, well, things get tricky
3A) If you have buddies, have them work on keeping the things shields down while you stay alive. If you have two bombers take a few hits to contribute your own supernovas.
3A) If you're alone, evaluate the gunboat. If the pilot is a madman of twisting and turning with a strong anti-fighter loadout: Uh, don't believe the forums. You might be better off running. If you're going for it and you don't have strong anti-cap gear such as infernos you might have to accept that every other supernova could be striking their shield regen and that you only have a window of a few seconds between taking down their shield, getting your energy back and firing again before their shields come back up. It sounds silly to say, but a shield running gunboat can make your life very tricky.

But note: If you're having trouble with managing systems and targeting, the 3-4 second window of opportunity between supernova regen and gunboat shield regen might prove a bit challenging. It's better to not waste a shot if you can help it.

Liberty is a good joint to practice bombing. The Liberty, Rogue and Lanehacker gunships are all very good vessels to practice on. Or you can spend two months is a Xeno Preagle fighting all three and other sorts, that'll learn you in a hurry!

As for anti-fighter: Luck, leading and lol. It's all a matter of timing and lady fate giving you a high five.

Just my humble two cents. Hope it helped!

Weakest spot is below or above the gunboat.
