Basically, I'm trying to start a Hogosha faction - as it's the affiliation of my primary character at the moment. I'm still working on 'fleshing out' the faction proposal, which can be found here:
http://discoverygc.com/forums/index.php?sh...c=20989&hl=
(By the way, any feedback you have on that post is greatly appreciated).

Thing is, Kusari space is becoming much more active lately, but it still needs a kick in the pants. There are a -ton- of blood dragons and outcasts operating within kusari, or at the very least in it's borders (tau/sigma systems), but there are very few kusari 'lawfuls' around. I've only seen a handful of [KNF] players lately, and an independent KNF/Hogosha here and there (myself being one of them).
The [AFA] is pretty much the sole strand that's holding Kusari together at the moment, and even they are very rarely around.

Now, at first glance most players (myself included, long ago) see the hogosha as some kind of back-water, no-influence criminal group. From what I've seen among other players, very few people ever even take a glance at the backstory and RP potential of a Hogosha character.

Put very bluntly and simply, the Hogosha are both a lawful and unlawful group rolled into one. They're the freelancer equivalent of modern-day Yakuza (japanese mafia).

Hogosha have a lot of influence within kusari. They have their hands into -everything- that happens within Kusari space, including but not limited to Government, KNF, KSP, Kishiro, and samura operations. The Hogosha have (almost) all the liberties of your average pirate or criminal, but have little to fear as far as reprisal from the police/navy. In short, as long as you keep your 'pirating' discreet, and as long as it's occuring in the name of the kusari people, and as long as you only pirate foreign traders - the government will turn it's back on your activities.

Further, the Hogosha act as an additional 'police' force within Kusari. We're allowed to stop smugglers (those moving plutonium, cardamine, etc.), but we're also allowed to smuggle contraband ourselves (Artifacts). We're allowed to attack pirate factions such as the outcasts, blood dragons, and golden chrysanthemums - yet we're not restricted from taxing traders.

In short, the Hogosha are criminals on the side of the Kusari emperor. The syndicate (my faction proposal) in particular focuses on 'serving the emperor' - everything we do is propogandized as being for the good of the Kusari people. We take from the "rich" foreigners (aka taxing/pirating) and give back to the poor citizens of Kusari. We keep foreign influences such as Cardamine out of Kusari, while bringing in things that make us a hefty profit in return, like artifacts from the Corsairs.

What I need here is a "show of hands" for those who have an interest in RP'ing or learning how to RP a Hogosha Character. If I'm to get my faction official, I need to have enough players join up - I'm working on the 500 million for the faction proposal in the meantime.

I would support thier creation but would not join. I have too many other irons in the fire now. Unless I could take an existing character.

The Hogosha have always been kind of enigmatic to me, which is something that's kind of appealing to me. There does seem to be a lot of potential, too, if they have their hands in everything. And I have been thinking about making an active Kusari based character.

So, I think I'd be interested, though I'll probably need to expand my Hogosha knowledge first.

Ouch. Poll is painfully rejecting at this point in time.

If it's not system owning or intending to be I'd give it a try, but I've got too much on my plate at the moment.

Anything I say is not intended as offensive, and to try and deliberately misinterpret it as such would be an attempt at trolling via misrepresentation.

It's not a conspiracy, it's localised bias. They're not intelligent enough to form a conspiracy.

in the long run we might go for tottori or one of the unoccupied (read: blank) Kusari systems like kumamoto or nagano. But... that takes a lot of money, and money which I dont have right now. I dont even have enough to start the faction yet.

*sigh*... maybe if i can convince the modellers to create a hogosha shipline it can work.
