I've just installed Vista (Why? I'm struggling to answer that already.) and am trying to load up my music into iTunes, and duplicated songs are appearing! What's going on?
I can see one track in C:\Users\Angus\Music etc
The other appears in C:\Documents and Settings\Angus\My Documents\My Music etc
There is no common theme to the files that appear to be duplicated. They're from folders right across my folder structure, and while some files from a folder are duplicated, others are not.
This has happened to about 1400 of my 8000 tracks.
I check my Folders of music and there are no duplicates.
I try and access Documents and Settings by showing all hidden files and folders, and I get an Access Denied error when I try and get into the folders. WTF?? I'm admin on the machine. Thought that meant I had complete control. Or is this some poxy new setting introduced by MS to deliberately annoy?
In all seriousness, I'm not sure. I've never run across that particular issue, unless you're using an out of date iTunes?

Insufficient access priviledges. But you knew that.

Vista is the most garbage OS that Microsoft has ever released. I went back to Windows XP SP3 and havn't had a single glitch, problem, or anything since. My suggestion, reload XP, take your Vista disk and use it as a frisbee for your dog, that's about all it's good for.
Open any folder Tools>Folder Options>View>Show Hidden Files and Folders.
EDIT: Typos fixed....I hate this keyboard, I love my own one...

XP = Xtra Poo, Vista is great when you know how to use it, only had one problem in my year and a half owning vista, which was with avast.
I hear people say that vista is a system hog, i wouldn't say it's that bad. I got a 120hd, 128mb 7100gs, and 1.5gb of ram, and a 3.33ghz celeron. And vista runs flawlessly.
I love vista, as i said a million times. And i would choose it over XP anyday:D
