It sadens me to see how the members here are untolerant to rules breakers. How players are so . . . uncommunicable or acting dumb when something bad is happening...

Now you are wondering why players are leaving? HELLO WAKE UP!
You are wondering why they get mad at you? HELLO WAKE UP!
You are wondering why they sometimes say that we ''suck''? HELLO WAKE UP!

What happens if a guy break a minor rule, says something OORP, swear once or twice(like if it was normal for him), Annoy you, fly with no ID, etc? You report him instantenously? That is the dumbest thing you can do . . .

Have you ever tried to explain the situation to the violator? like sayin ''you know, we don't swear here because there is some kids playing with us, it is a question of respect'' Do you know that most of the time, when you do that, the player will apologize?

Yes humans can make mistakes but they can also apologize

If the player apologizes after you've explained the thing to him, will you report him? I wish not, if you do, you are an arse.

Although, if you explain the situation to the violator and he says ''I don't care'' Then YES report him.

The intolerance here is diggusting. Admins are overloaded with work, you keep saying ''Ohh we will help you reduce your workload'' but every day you fill a report for every single thing, without giving a warning to the player.

So if you wish to help the admins, and help the climate here, be patient and more tolerant, stop pressing this stupid print screen key.

Thank you, have a nice day, and do what you should do.

Yes it's always best to talk to them first. If he fixes it it's fine.

That said, it's written in a lot of console messages that you should read the rules first.

A guy with a BS without ID, who F1s out of combat and calls you all sorts of things is certainly something else than lvl 45 guy with Raven Claw and outcast gun.

Before you report a fellow for no ID, please check that the fellow has installed the mod correctly, you'd be surprised at how many folks will ask you how on earth they can find an ID as they've checked every base they've landed on and none have shown up, or folks that haven't realised that the latest ship purchase has sold the ID without them noticing. I know I've done the latter in the past and had to go buy a trader ID to fill in for a while.

Common sense is something that seems to be sadly lacking with regards to sanction reports. I've just recently put in a request to the Oxford English Dictionary to change the definition, and include a new word - Uncommon sense.

Try and speak to them privately by the way. So the system chat isn't filled with people screaming at each other about rules.

Also remember that sometimes there is a very good reason that this, say, Bretonia Battleship is in the hands of the Outcasts. Ask them privately about it and find out before reporting anything.

I'm no saint, I'm currently banned for over 3 weeks or so now for forgetting to swap system files around after doing some experimenting. (I seem to have fallen through the cracks too, no sanction report or unbanning:(Still, it happens.)
A bit of patience can go a long way.

King (and others),

some things you say may be true, but on my oppinion the big number of players is pretty tolerant
depending on the kind of rule violation.

But there is also a big number of players that just act kind of rude, are unpolite, showing bad manners
and annoying attitudes when they "interact" with other players.

Often there's no conversation in front, and if, it's often lame, just pretending to rp.
To me a big part of RP means players talking together how it would be typical for a situation
they're in.

Swearing, yeah, I don't like that eather, but the sense behind that rule sometimes seams a bit
unrealistic b/c very often when this rule it's broken it's broken by the kids this rule was made for to protect.

However, when I see a rule violation I personally try to inform the player about it and try to tell him how to
do better if I know - but only if I've the impression that the player is a rookie on Disco and would be gratefull
for some good advice.

Players that have been here for a while should feel the responsability to get familiar with the rules
themselfs, ignorance is no excuse. (Thinking of all those players that have a rank above 40 and haven't
even felt the need to register with the forums and read the rules.)

I know sometimes it's hard to obey all rules all the time, there are plenty of rules and some may also cause
misunderstandings.

But maybe it's a just a reflection of todays society and cultural, social differences - all over the world
people get more and more rude and selfish, this is what you can perfectly find on Disco as well.
