Is the full 10% technerf on Corsair ships flying BW ships really necessary? It made sense pre .87 because outcasts had no dedicated ship line, but now they have their own specific ship set, which should preclude the technerf from being so severe. As it is historically a Outcast ship, i could see a 75/90% nerf, but not down to 10%.
Was suggesting this a while ago, ye. BW =\= OC shipline, it was never manufactured by them. However the answer was always no for some foggy reasons. So it's kind of another "we think so" reason why Corsairs can't have BW line (which is in fact alternative to civilian line) at any rate.
Everyone can get everything.
Just keep in mind that there's no logic in Disco.
Cannibals won't ever be able to use BW line, otherwise it will be awkward. You play sair, so be sair.
And yes, Sabres were being sold on Malta too in vanilla, so their origin is arguable.

1. Open vanilla Freelancer
2. Find Sabre
3. Open infocard and read:
Quote:As commerce and some economic freedoms began to flood the Border Worlds, so did greater access to technology and the need for change. The "Z" is the fruit of Border World ingenuity and pure capitalism coalesced into one lethal embodiment. This ship boasts enormous power capacity as well as extreme defensive capability.
The answer is easy: DA was rushing FL into production thus the storyline was unfinished as well as some content (so some faction share BW shipline while some smaller factions given own designs), plus, DA was never intending FL multiplayer as something really serious, especially, in RP perspective. They didn't gave a single duck where the ships are sold in fact because I don't think that someone in DA was expecting people to look for logic and justification behind the sale locations. The original logic, I suppose, was simple: Faction fly X, Y, Z ships, so X, Y, Z ships must be sold at their bases so, basically, if you see a Navy NPC with Defender you can follow the logic of looking for that ship on some Navy base.
The ship stats and their sale locations are also were highly dependent on SP campaign progress and were also oriented on fighting against the NPC and exploration. Why Titan was called the best ship in Sirius? Simply because it had the best power core and best armor thus was good against NPCs. PVP balance was not designed as a whole.
So back to original question: Should the Corsairs have the access to BW line which is, in fact, a second civilian ship line? Yes. Would they be given it? No. Why? Because reasons.
Bruchsal was the second place where Sabre could be found? It's more likely that such planet as Malta produced this ship than a little Bundshuh base?
I know there was many holywars already on this topic, still you can't name the manufacturer for sure.
Sabre got to Malta either from left-hand re-sellers or just was produced there.
Anyway, I don't care much.
Cannibals won't get anything.

pure disco typical bias and arrogance...
Your last four posts have been bitching about the devs.
Go away.
Moving on.
I suspect the logic is that it wasn't just the Outcasts that use the Border Worlds line. Every faction that's used it is hostile to the Corsairs and, to the best of my knowledge, always has been - the only possible exception is the Lane Hackers, who are still pretty firmly in the Outcast camp.
Not necessarily saying they can't, but I can see why they wouldn't want it in-RP.
That being said, I tend to support opening up more shiplines for everyone (including de-factionizing the Z-line), so I'm cool with either option - though I'd still use a Correo, myself.
Actually, we should also be able to use outcast technology since we're almost like bros. And of course vice versa. Titans with infernos awww yeah! Now we just need some kind of RP explanation to justify this. I think Vilkas could come up with something
