Freeport One increases security due to hotile activity

Marcel Tas: Hello folks! My name is Marcel Tas, and I bring you the latest news of Zoner interest, directly from the CNN Studios in Lanzarote Base, Omega 49.

Well, yesterday I went with my news team to Omega 3, Freeport One, to take a look at the new security measures there are taking place there. It has been almost a month now since we gave an alert about pirate activity near FP1. But since then, more pirates appeared in the system, and now even a Bretonian Privateer ship was seen attacking independent traders passing by the lanes.

Since the bretonian admiralty cant keep their pirates on a leash, a few zoner ships where stationed near the Freeport, for the safety of the people that uses the station every day. So it was no surprise to meet a Nephilim Colony Ship guarding the station. Although not a warship, the Nephilim has good firepower so it can defend against nomads, so a couple cheap pirates should not be a problem.

Quickly it became apparent that the big ship's presence would be a good thing, as a bounty hunter and a red hessian were fighting and came closer to the station, the Nephilim captain had only to order them to leave to interrupt their confrontation, he did not even powered up its weapons.

But as soon as the Neph left the area, piracy went rampant again. The already known pirate Love.Joy - now using Junker IFF - started his piracy routine right at the same time that the colony ship was docking. The nerve!

But his luck was short. When he was trying to pirate the next trader, two Das Wilde ships appeared. Maybe his agressive stance against the zoner trader ship annoyed the two nomad infected pilots, because they imediately engaged the pirate's small transport. They made quick work of him.

After the pirate ship was destroyed, they turned their attention to our vessel! Apparently they don't want their image to be broadcast for all sirians to see. But luckly our Dromedary freighter is faster than the Wilde ships, and we managed to land on Freeport One before they could get in weapons range. Here is a communications transcript for you folks...

With all this pirate and alien activity, and also reports of bretonian privateers robbing traders as mere pirates right next to the Freeport, the zoner community gladly welcomes the increase of security in the area. Let's hope this makes a difference in the safety of all ships passing by the Omega 3 system.
