I think MKVIII Cap might be a little bit high, making it cost more than a dread... But then again, 500K armor times 4... 2 Mil armor? That is a little insane.
personally, i think the price for the cap mk 8 is fine, because then spamming those cap armours isnt easy. it retains it being a unique (and best) armour upgrade.
cap ship armours are meant for big ships, and thus, they should cost more than the universal armours, but that means in a rise in price for caps, and an increase in stats, imo.
lets look at fighter armour - 15 million ... once you have a financial basis here on the server, its practicly nothing - and a "must have" - while 2.5 is not much more ( as a matter of fact, much less than in the capital ship department ) than the next best one. people gladly pay for it.
capital ship armour though is usually "rarer" when it comes to the type 8. most ships feature a type 6 armour, which - like QV said is just enough.
so - the capital ship armour prices have actually done what they are supposed to do - make players go for the reasonable piece instead of the overpriced ( effect : price ratio )
of course its a multiplier and that means - the more base armour you have, the more effect it has. - soo.... capital ships benefit more from it than fighter armour. - and on capital ships ... it HAS an effect. - cause you can much more predict the result of a combat, as there is not so much dodging and missing of weaponfire ( battleships )
so - when two identical battleships fight, the one with the higher armour wins - hands down. when two identical fighters battle, its not really so much down to the armour at all.
It is. I'd up them a bit more, to some 45 mil for regular armor VIII.

Having a cap armor mk.VIII is purely a matter of prestige.
It's like with supercars. Why do people pay 1.6 million euros for Bugatti Veyron when it's only faster by 30 - 40 kph than it's much cheaper counterparts?
