I noticed something interesting while testing some ships out in open singleplayer.. guns are not firing at the ranges they should.

The solaris gunboat turret has a range of 1400m, with a speed of 1400m/s.

I parked my gunboat 1390m from a trade lane ring, and was unable to hit it... at all.

I moved closer, still nothing. Closer yet, still nothing. I inched towards the trade lane ring at low speed, firing at it, and was unable to hit it until exactly 900 meters.

Now, I may have gone to redneck school, but even by their math 900 does not equal 1400. So... what's going on here? Is the 'life' (duration) of the solaris projectile too low to have it reach the full distance?

tradelanes are kinda wierd, thats the distance of the center... try doing it to some ejected scrap metal and tell me what happens

Even better.. try against player ships...

Projectiles disappear over some distance if there's nothing (read: player) around. So shooting on trade lane from 3500 ms the mortar might disappear. Shooting on player BS it will hit.
