Then the following things should also be reviewed:
- Blood dragon caps.
- Rheinland Pirate Cruiser.
- Hessian battleship.
- Rogue/Molly Destroyer.
- BHG caps and/or the BHG core as a whole.
- OC and Corsair battleships.
I'm not saying these things should be removed, just that if we're looking at making the mod 'make sense from a logical standpoint' then it would be worth the devs taking some time to work out whether or not these factions should be able to support fleets of large warships...
Just throwing this out here for some discussion... I'm not pushing any particular point of view with this.
The Mollies are sort of working together with the Brets against the Gallics. So I'd say let them keep the dessie, since it is sort of like an extra powerful transport by RP already.
Though if that is the case, I would suggest doing something about the shait of a cruiser the GRN currently have just to balance it out a tad.
BHG I would suggest removing everything down to the gunboat, excluding.
EDIT: I would love to see more Lend-Liese roleplay between allied/friendly factions without specific types of ships.
Keep the ID ship type allowances as it is, but make the people RP to get those ships.
BHG Could RP with house military to purchase them, Rogues could pester the OCs or whatever, so on.

I think there used to be a system where people did this, but having to RP for your ships was considered to be dreadful - Prone to skype cronyism and bias, or something...
So along came technerf!
This is a little off topic though..
The thread is based around a comment from Kazinsal

It set me wondering about who else might not be able to support a house sized fleet - or indeed any sized fleet - of heavy warships.
Well, skype friends will always exist. It is just one of those fun things about Disco.
Nothing we can really do about it unless all of those requests and personal RP development goes via admin approval.
And that is not to say even that cannot be tampered with.

They turn out to become a massive outer-house trading empire.
It becomes OORP for them NOT to have battleships with that wealth.
Wat.

I'm not pushing any particular view on the matter. However, I was thinking about groups with more limited resources than a house.
As I understand, the BHG Core funds itself largely from the activities of the regular BHG. Given the BHG are contracted out by the houses, they would naturally not be making a house-sized stack of cash.
Furthermore, my understanding is that the Core as a whole, was pretty much invented to give the order something to do - and as an outlet for BHG cap use, without flooding the houses with the ships.
Like I said, I don't think the BHG Core should die, I am simply throwing it open to discussion because I have my doubts over whether it makes logical sense. At the moment, I don't have any particular opinion on any of these things, I am merely creating discussion.
Nice assumption, though.
My "do we actually need this NPC faction at all?" list, extends to several groups, which I won't go into now.

Though I'd like to see a mid-way about the Ranseur. The Sarissa could and should stay open to those that want it, the Ranseur, as the vanguard flagship of Nacion, should eventually be SRP-only. Though on this with an exception, every official faction gets one by default on request. (which would cap the current number of Ranseurs down to two).
I'm serious with this.
Given a new ship-model I'd even go as far as suggesting the Sarissa being a heavy Assault-Cruiser (BC-type per ship definition).

It also depends on how this "fleet" actually represents itself. Do I imagine the Red Hessians have a FLEET of Jormungands out there? No, that's not realistic in any way. But in terms of gameplay, Hessians also don't have a huge ZOI and near across the board diplomatic neutrality that Zoners do. So that's a balance.
Zoners just want to have it all...and cry long and loudly when they can't have it.
IMO, I would agree that it would make sense to make Bunters have only up to GB strength, but those Gunboats should be awesome. Maybe extra power core and heavy gun slots to compensate.
