Current status

Version 1

Version 2

Version 3

So, a short summary:

I have more money than needed and since there are a lot of skilled modelers around, plus I <3 the gaian faction, here is the chance to put your hands on a Billion Sirius Credits.

What is needed?

A complete, new gaian bomber model, what based on their current shipline. I would like to see some kind of gaianish bomber. Something what could compare with the gaian gunboat and/or heavy fighter. I think the gaian gunboat is a masterpiece, so I prefer to focus on that one, but well... its up to you.

Gaians arent a rich faction, so it could be a light bomber with 4 guns forward and a SNAC location in the center.

I dont wanna make more limits, so feel free to impress me, just focus on their current shipline please.

I would like to see it ingame, so please use your skill and give me a model what could be implemented into the game.

I reserve the right to refuse a model, so feel free to drop your ideas before starting the real work. If the external impress me (and the community) you could start the drill.

I would like to ask for the moderators help in the future to make a poll if we will have multiple models, since it wont be just my toy.

Thank you for your time and feel free to ask if you have any questions.

since i made the other gaian ships - this is but a concept.

http://p3d.in/fiZbP

based on influences from the HF, the GB and also the IMG bomber, cause IMG has always been pretty fair to my gaian and provided both, protection and situational teamwork.

there is not as much arch as on the HF but the curve is preserved, the front engine is combined with the launcher(s) but enlarged. the entire fuselage is widened and not as flimsy as the HF. it is flatter than the heavy fighter and more similar to the gunboat yet not as elongated.

it is featuring a double seater cockpit because that is probably easier to manufacture than a single seater that must multitask gunner and pilot. also it looks cooler.

this second concept is much closer to the current HF. it is a bit beefier but mostly just a modified chassis. with the two tubes attached to the nose of the fighter it is similar to the other concept - but sports only a single cockpit and a smaller and sleeker fuselage.

not much to say about it - just a variation of the chamaelion

more ideas are always better, cause choice is better - here is a third concept more based on the gunship. - about the size of an osprey though, so it would rather fit a heavy bomber.

*Throws himself on his knees*

"We're not worthy.. We're not worthy!"

In other words: Wauw.. That really looks fantastic.
And a bomber is the missing link in the Gaian line imho. HF is too light to be a real threat on its own and the GB is a bit large/expensive for a 'next step'.

If this get implemented, I will throw an a%$-load of gratitude on top of Wragas cash offer.

Well, personally I like both of them, maybe the second one fits better to the current shipline, however as I see, it could be a chance to give the gaians a bomber and a vhf also.

As I said, your work is impressive Jinx, so I'll drop them for a poll if you dont mind, because I dont want to handle this as a privilege, but an "offer" for the community and the gaians.

So folks, feel free to vote on these ships and if you are a modeller, feel free to drop your idea too, since we have time (I fear) to persuade the mods to add this (these) ships into the mod.

Again, thanks for these ships, Jinx.

Nothing much to say. The ships look cool and I dont know much about Gaians to comment on the looks of their shipline.

I really like the first one; however, since it's a bomber, the engines should be a tad bigger, or there should be more, since the ones that are already there seem too small to propel a bomber. The second one would be, again, in my opinion, kinda unsuitable. First of all, the fins at the back are much too large. Not only does it seem a bit weird, it would not make sense inRP to have them so large, especially the bottom ones; they make the ship both heavier (and so slower) and easier to hit, while not providing much, if at all, in terms of protection. Plus, they could bump into asteroids, which is an inconvenient both inRP and in terms of gameplay. The model is also less detailed than the first one. But both are good.

addressing design concerns:

why are the fins / winglets so large? - because it is also and mostly a part of balance to give the ship more "to hit surface area". - also it is one of the prominent features of the gaian HF ( which serve the very same purpose - to make it easier to be hit )

for example, the FA bomber revision in my sig was unbalancable due to "too little to hit surface" - so balance will determine certain design aspects - and compromises must be made - and so we end up with very large wings.

why the small engines? - because freelancer SNUB engines are actually fairly tiny. - for example, the engines on the dragon ( kusari HF ) are smaller than its cockpit - they are just two little nozzles. arguably we have fighters with huge engines, too. - but there is no real precidence about size, thrust capability and tech level there. the gaian HF engine is very small, so a bomber might have a similar one. ( concept 3 has 2 medium sized engine nozzles )

about the general concept ideas of the gaian ships, cause it was mentioned...

gaian ships are based on the slim and elongated design of the kusari gunship due to past roleplay about gaian and kusari navy cooperation ( when we had some unofficial roleplay about gaians willingly and unofficially being used as a sort of kusari privateers to be funded by kusari )

they are however a lot more low tech, meant to have rather pitiful momentum/acceleration and much weaker powercores and weapons ( thats why the gaian GB is meant to be similar but significantly weaker than the kusari GB )

other than that they are meant to be build from materials found in bretonia, scrap parts etc. so their ships are meant to be build from looted chassis' from shot down templars or similar ( so they feature the bretonian bolted red and white )

I prefer this one, it is nearly perfect:

http://p3d.in/jRol7

Perhaps two small wings instead of the spikes at the back and in the nose the two "round things" from version 2, then ... wow

The third version has been added into the first thread. Thanks Jinx

Could a forum moderator add a new poll option for the third concept please?

Thank you

Number Three. It fits the line fron HF to Claymore just perfectly.

But the spikes on the end are the only issue from me. Otherwise. Great work.
