I was hoping to sign up in around a few years, that is if my current Career option and aims would be somewhat 'Obstructed'; Or if if felt that something just didn't click in with me. But I'm not talking about a few years in service then out again. I'm thinking of taking a Career in the Human Resources Specialist or as a Heavy weapons specialist. (E.G. Javalins, L1A1's, L86A2 LSW's, Ect.)
How do you feel about Military Career's? and have you ever considered it?
Heh - I applied to join the RAF but couldn't due to medical stuff. Its a good career if you can get in to the military, that said though A mate of mine who did manage to get in came out a different man. I would recommend talking to several combat vets both still serving and those who have left. Its not something everyone can handle.
War is very real and there are no respawns.
HR post would let you serve and help your nation without potentially being exposed to a field where you stand a high chance of getting mental problems and Post Traumatic Stress.

I served, and I only did not apply for a full military career because of juvenile... idiocy. I got caught smoking a joint while still in training *snickers* . Oh well, long ago.
Military service is a FULLY professional job, no party and no easy life. Regardles of the country or ideal you serve.
Thats why it´s called service. And it is NOT a *get a weapon and training for free* bootcamp.
Ask yourself this question : If an officer tells you to serve by doing office work, or by getting training as paramedic... will you do it ?
Or chose to set your own ego and your wish to do heavy weapons duty over his command, or the needs of your comrades ? And so on...
If your in it for the weapons : Quit it. Get lost.
Get rich, buy a shooting range, buy a professional trainer and / or bodyguard.
Not patriotic enough ? Well, I dont care.
Im German. I know what an overdose of weapon using fanatics can do if they are told its ok to shoot something.
Still not patriotic enough ?
Oh , by the way : I grew up in London, lived there during the Falkland war.
I could still get a british pass any time I wanted to.
Considered it, but instead went to university and I feel like I made -without doubt- the better choice. After pretty much completing my degree, I could not imagine -in my opinion- wasting my potential.
I am not for one minute bad mouthing anyone in the armed forces, I think they do their job well and are very professional. I for one could not do what they do. I just think that for someone with any sort of academic potential, the armed forces is a huge waste.
I subscribe what FinnMcScrap said, service is no joke and not to be taken lightly and you must be up an ready for whatever is going on, i served myself 4 years in the army in my country, and i can tell you that things can turn upside down in no time an you'll have to be ready for. Said this, i can tell you if you have the right mindset, if you're not sure (as happened to myself) go for it and discover if you're up to, in my case it worked. And if you feel you're in the right place, do not leave as i did. You will regret it, i assure you.
