So I'm wondering if I should OC and mess around with my processor to try to get some more juice out of it. My processor is a AMD Phenom II X6 1035T 2.6 GHz, links for specs below.

I don't know that much about overclocking, so anyone got some advice?

EDIT: I'll run a reasonably demanding game for a while, and get you guys a processor temp afterwards.

First you need to check can your cpu be overclocked, then you should search info about overclocking it.

P.S: Games are not good stress test, get Prime95 for that.

Running Prime95 now, I'll let it go for a few hours and report back. So far, been running for about 30 minutes and the temp of my core/motherboard is staying at 50C or just below.

Ran Prime95 for 3 and a half hours, motherboard and CPU temps peaked at 52 Celsius, with a more constant temp of 50 Celsius.

EDIT: 2nd test: Prime 95, 3 hours and 40 minutes, stable CPU temp of 52, peak of 54.

For my RAM, I got 8 GB DDR3-1333.

Did some research, and my CPU is capable of OC'ing, so my only real concerns are -how- do I go about OC'ing them, and of course I'm concerned about the temp after OCing and making sure my processor doesn't fry.

is your ram paired as is in dual channel?

what gfx card you got?

You can use AMD overdrive for such a processor.

Google a bit more for the max. allowed temp and such it can handle and do a few stress tests.

My ram is divided into 4 2 Gig sticks (lame, I know, but that's how it came).

My graphics is this.

I actually thought my card had 2 GB memory, instead of only 1 GB... Just found that out after looking at that page... That makes me a little bit sad. :<

@Blue, I'll Google that, thanks. Apparently from what I read earlier, the max temp for my processor is "55C - 71C", which seems like a rather large difference... I'm not sure if that's saying my processor has a chance of burning up at even 55C, or if it should be fine until 71C... 55C isn't really that hot...

50C after overcloak is Ideal, anything above 53 ( ( Without even having background proccess running ) can lead to severe damages to the cpu in the long run. Normaly, If you squeez your cpu too much until it reaches a point ( likely to be 68'C ) your computer will shut down.On another note, I don't think theres any need to overclock that particular CPU.
