So, it's already 2+ months since my internet started trolling me. I turn on my PC, turn on the modem, but after some time the modem decides to reboot itself, causing DCs in any online game. It doesn't have a pattern, it just randomly reboots, pissing me off every single day. I've changed the modem and got a new one, but it still happens, so it might be my PC. I use Avast, update it frequently, and yesterday I installed Spybot - Search and Destroy. It detected a few problems and I removed them, but it still happens. Is it possible that maybe my settings changed somehow? I even googled it, wasn't much of a help though. Now I'm considering reinstalling Windows, but wanted to see if it's possible to fix without doing that.

I don't know if it will at all help (Not THAT much PC knowledge), but try getting CCleaner and running that in SafeMode. Clear out what is in the "Cleaner" and "Registry" options, and try that. Alternatively, try using Microsoft Security Essentials on top of/besides Avast. I use those two and PC has been running great for over 4 years now.

I have similar problem for a few months: modem reboot itself or stop working and i have to reboot it manually.
Things that didnt help: Eset (working properly),Spybot (found nothing), CCCleaner (i have only few programs installed, so there is no mess in my PC), windows reinstall (win 7 ultimate), modem replacement.
I also talk about it with a few IT guys and noone had a clue. So if anyone had some advice i would really appreciate it.

PS: I have Eset firewall set as automatic, i wanted to change it to interactive (because automatic mode stops only incomming communication and not outgoing) but it caused me big troubles with FL (more precisely it cause blue screen(!) when i try to get in server selection). It doesnt effect anything else, just Disco. Any ideas?

No, I won't update my account to enable 3rd party hosting!

How should CCleaner help you in any wise with this?

There is a problem with the modem, not with his computer.
I would suggest you ; to reset your modem. On it's backside anywhere there should be a small reset button, try it out.
And a PC cannot cause the modem to restart, just giving the heads up.
Do you mean your modem, that is including your phone or do you mean only internet access?
However, it's not an error in your PC neither a virus, rather I would say your router forces the modem to restart.
You can contact me also in skype furthermore ( keksdose112xd ).

Well, he said he replaced his Modem, but still had the same problem, so the thinking was the computer has some sort of issue.

then it must be the cable/s from you phone/cable line to the magic box outside to your ISP, get them to come out and check the lines for interference

That's why I've asked if he meant "his modem" or "his router" it could be also that the router needs an update and is permanently disconnecting. However, reinstalling Windows will not help in any way, it will only waste his time. D: Believe me

I will try to explain it ; If there would be a disconnect between PC and Router - this is then PC issued.
If there is a disconnect between Router and Modem - this is Router issued, as you still have phone net access with the modem.
If there is a total disconnect from Modem and ISP you won't have Internet neither Phone Access and this is not PC caused.

Also that's one of the reasons why I offered skype assistance if the router needs an update/configuration preset.

And yeah, his cable could be broken also. There's nothing wrong with this idea too.

Seems like the most stupid thing happened and I overlooked it. One of the cables was under the pressure of my desk and seems like it's working now. Thanks to everyone who tried to help, and especially to Rebirth for wasting hours trying to figure out what the problem was.

I had a similar problem once, just that in my case the cable somehow got severed inside the wall. How that happened is beyond me.
