A few of us will be helping a new player to learn the ropes on sunday afternoon.

Don't be surprised if you see a lot of conn activity.

Will also be teaching him basic RP, so if you see RP chat in conn, please ignore it. His 0 seconds of experience may annoy a few for a little while. We'll do our best to teach him right.

There's a lot to cover. Can anybody help to suggest order of business for teaching him?

I'll try to put as much of his teaching process in conn as possible if I can. Trying not to disturb the RP too much

My suggestions:

1. Basic communication protocols - teach him how to greet/address other players in an RP way, and teach him how and when to use oorp (//). Also, touch on local/system/private chats and when to use them.

2. How to recognize ships via ID & IFF and the difference between them.

3. Teach him basic lore - background info on Houses/factions he wants to play and will encounter most

4. teach him not to be a Zoner.

If you want to teach him some short, money-making runs, he can always run Reinforced Alloys (in Penn) or Robotic Hardware (on Los Angeles) to Oceana Shipping Platform in Cortez. We usually have some ores in stock for return trips to Liberty.

Maybe teach him why Pirate ID might use Freelancer IFF. Diferent ways of making money and a bit about each House and its factions.

nah, in all seriousness, we know him well inRL and will be in one house for a lan party. at least 5 of us

likely a pirate and gun for hire.
my guess is he'll be well suited to bounty hunter gunship too

and we don't complain about nerfs or buffs. we just use the better ships.

welp when i first started out here, and if someone pulled me to the side to teach me roleplay, i would think that disco roleplay was the gayest thing ever.

my advice is to teach the guy the basics of staying alive and getting away, including stuff like how to evade and type at the same time. try some 2 v 2's where you don't focus the new guy down and give him a taste of success and show him how useful an extra gun/ship is, even if it's a new player behind the wheel. then show him yber's guide if he is interested in learning more pvp stuff.

then forget about conn for a while and go play on the server. if he tags along, he'll see how you guys deal with stuff and roleplay and whatnot, while also having fun at the same time. the best way to learn is to jump right in, and if he's under the wing of more experienced player's he'll do fine.

After Conn take him around sirris. Let him get the feel of the RP experience outside Conn.
Examples:
Get some house military guy to question him, or a pirate interaction. Maybe even run from a nommie. Get a contract from a POB owner for him to supply materials etc... all under your supervision
