"Too long have the lawful forces overlooked the slavery problem, they have neither the connections or history that I do, I believe that I... we... the Zoners, can make a difference" - Sir Coriko Lameos.
In the winter months of 816 AS, on a planet where the more peaceful brethren of Sirius lived, a slaver sat at an unimportant bar, reflecting on the events that had been. The gin brought little warmth to him.
He was filled with regret and passion, he had done this, funded this supported this, and know he knew how wrong he was. He had learnt they were people, not commodities to 'own'. Slavery.
It was time to make up for all that wrong. When he met his cargo, he realised it immediately. He turned the ship around, and rather than taking them back to their wretched lives, he flew them to Freeport 2, in Bering. They were declared freed and the staff of Freeport 2 was advised to move them on to the right places. It was the first step in the right direction, but he wanted to do more.
During his time as a slave smuggler he had become wealthy and acquainted with many contacts within the underworld of Sirius. He knew he could make a big effect on the evil trade, with time. However, with his current reputation and disapproval from the houses and Bounty hunters alike he could take these plans no further.
Therefore he requested permission from the Council of Zoners for their backing, and approval for a government run scheme. Whilst this was awaiting response he transformed his house into a minor institution, so that some slaves could be removed from this trade as soon as possible. He was no expert in psychology, or other matters of the body, so he hired a small, but proficient medical team to help and advise him. When the CoZ denied his request, because of possible diplomatic backlash, another solution had to be found.
He then learnt that releasing slaves outright would be unhealthy for a vast number of them, as they were institutionalised and they would not function in a normal environment without rehabilitation. He decided that with this fortune he would fund the building costs, and the cost of transports to bring Slaves to this centre, however, even with his vast fortune, day-to-day costs, fuel, staff, medicine, food, oxygen and water were beyond even his opulent budget.
The ZAS strives to free these exploited individuals from captors at their weakest point, when under transportation, using violence as a last resort only. Using their contacts, ZAS pilots can also, less desirably, purchase their lives. Following this they are transferred onto the ZAS' transports and liners, equipped with medical facilities, kitchens, and sleeping wards. Great care would be taken to not overload our vessels, for health and safety reasons. Adequate cargo space is occupied by oxygen, food, water, medicines, and fuel. Each ship would require at least 200 staff, including guards, navigators, doctors, gunners, and carers. In such large ships we would be risking the lives of our passengers and staff. Therefore we will endeavour to use as few jumpholes as possible, unless already in an emergency situation.
Previously delivered to the centre at Gran Canaria the slaves would now be delivered to Corfu base, and be put to work and the amount of work would be gradually lessened over time. They would be educated and trained in skills, and given a choice in which skills they want to learn. During this time they would be producing commodities for the use of the Zoners, whilst being well fed and looked after. Once they are ready, they will be released and assigned a job. They would now be responsible for their own lives, and asides from regular checks, they would be largely independent. This is where the project's funding would be sourced, the wages for staff would now be paid by the work of the slaves.
Requests have been made for the ZAS marked ships to be licensed to transport slaves through House space. Whilst Bretonia has endorsed our request, Liberty has felt the need to skirt around the issue time and time again. The ZAS~ are currently waiting for an official response.
Remove the word recruitment from the title please, I see any recruitment going on in here I'll be deleting those posts. Unofficial factions do not get recruitment threads of any kind.
Saint Del is considered a holy healer of diseases of children, but also as a protector of cattle.
Well, since you apparently dislike slavers, then I can offer you fellas some support due to the common goal we share. Yer welcome in the Taus at any time.
I've had two outstanding interactions with you guys.
I especially liked seeing that there was a ZAS liner at one of the incidents to pick up and actually save the majority of the slaves being rescued (unfortunately for them, I managed to slip away that time).
Although my character will avoid you at all costs, it's good to know that you are good RPers when he does get caught.
