While I'm not opposed to this per se I think the timing of this thread could better. Proposing this right after the events in Paris doesn't seem like a very good idea.

Relgious fanaticism has been around since man learned to find enough food easily to have time to think. And since man had time enough to think he started controlling and / or dominating the thoughts of others in more and more efficient ways...

Gaming takes the other way, the path of distraction.

If it distracts you to play a fanatic and you use the RP to learn something about fanaticism, or at least THINK about that topic it could be a good thing. But the problem is that this is no fun topic, and there is nothing to attract more FLAMEZ than belief.

There is a Server rule about harrassing and trolling, is there not ?
I do not think it a wise move to play a harrassing and trolling character and then try and argue that it´s all in RP, it takes too much time from the Admins and probably does not really bring good RP or more activity to the server.

It might bring some nice FLAMEZ though.
Pass me the popcorn please.

Why can´t you take the accepted and already well established role and play a cool blooded powermonger who only pretends to be a religious fanatic ? You would not even have to found any secret Order for that...

I dont agree with this only because people will assimilate the action of chars with real life extremist groups, infact RP could become blurred and when players start chanting islamic chants then its all over.

Dont mix religion and gaming, even if the religion is fake the idea is based on something real.

yeah just be sly about it. i think there's an outcast religious faction as well as taz. there were some corsair cardinals at one point too. i guess as long as you pack away the religious zeal and underplay it, you'll be fine.

I guess as he´s stressing the "extremist" part he´s not talking about mainstream or non- zealot religion in RP.
A fundamentalist , strictly non-violent Zoner faction that does not venture into house space and does not use jump gates, or a outcast religious sect that concentrate on venturing out to the Nomads to try and chant together with them...
I somehow can not see many of us playing this sort of non - pew factions, eh ?

And as long as it´s only about some RP justification for a nice shootout you can find enough RP justifications without touching anybody´s belief.
