We at TAZ have long been toying with the idea of leaving the Zoner movement and ask for our own IFF and become The Discordian Society. We feel like this is the best course of action to allow factions to relate to us in a way that doesn't put the other Zoners in the middle. We've lost interest in the deep Omicrons, we are unfriendly to a couple of factions that are neutral to the other official Zoner factions, and even if we dropped Zonerdom we can still belong to the Confederation of Freeports, which is the only "zone" where we feel comfortable. The roleplay regarding us bringing the Zoner shipline schematics to Baffin is complete, and we're starting another line of RP to try and ask CR let us build in Sabah, and if that fails we'll try to ask the same to Congress or the SCRA. Even our Zonerish technerf chart is not making sense with our current diplomatic and technology use related RP.
We'll soon create a proper request to the Admin and Dev team to see if these changes can make it in time for the release, or if we have to wait for the first "mini update" of the new release/update system that Alley announced not so long ago. Such request thread will be directed to Admins and Devs only, so if you have any opinion on the subject that you'd like to express, do it in this thread.

PS: We have always stated that our Zonerdom was Temporary and Autonomous anyways
Basically you feel that trying to make a better name for the ID is above your possibilities and you are jumping the ship.

PSA: If you have been having stutter/FPS lag on Disco where it does not run as smoothly as other games, please look at the fix here: https://discoverygc.com/forums/showthrea...pid2306502

I think it would be better if you started from scrap if you wanted a do-over.
If you aren't Zoners, you've been parasites in the Zoner community, and it seems a bit too "Mary-Sue" to just ditch that part of your faction when that is convenient.
My 2 cents.
EDIT: You even linked to this thread in the sanction thread, and I think that's pretty weaksauce. But hey, at least you are clear about your motives.
Our origins date back to the Lane Hackers actually. you can click on Mal's quote on my siggie for an extended inRP interview covering a bit of our history there. And about the parasitic condition, I don't mind if you see it that way, perhaps it's true. The way I see it, we've given some to the Zoner community throughout all these years, and we've enjoyed Zonerdom too, it just doesn't make sense at this point to keep on with that since it's bringing a lot of unwanted trouble, to us but even more to those around us.
And of course you made sure to secure battleship schematics and everything else that was of value from the Zoners, right?
I mean, it would be cool if there was a negative consequence to this move, such as a standing war with Zoners and the ability for an allowance on the Zoner ID to shoot you guys. Or that you could only fly Civilian / BW stuff.
Oorply they find generic zonerdom too limiting (heh!) and can see benefits in getting rid of the association and the negative consequences it can entail in-rp, whilst keeping "the good stuff".

What are the drawbacks for your faction?
There are no drawbacks or gained perks here, we're making a move that will make the game more enjoyable to all those involved, just that. If Phoenix feel that we shouldnt be having Aquilons, Juggies, Dessies or Corvos after this decision, now they can actually do something about it inRP without their ID restricting them from doing so. That's the kind of solution we're offering here.
