I'm planning to build a new PC soon, possibly as early as the end of February / start of March.

My main requirements are lots of RAM, a SSD, and an optical drive.
I went on to r/BuildaPC to get some suggestions, and they came back with this: http://pcpartpicker.com/p/WL3mRB

Ideally, I do not want to spend too much more than $1500 USD (or $1750 AUD), since I need to buy a monitor. I already have a good mouse, keyboard, and headset, so no need for other peripherals.

Any thoughts or suggestions on the proposed build?

Edit: Build Mk 1.

There was a sig here, once.

Not bad, considering you don't have to get accessories/and such, minus the monitor - So putting that money back into hardware and such.

Here is what I am currently building - Got about half the parts right now. Costing me around $1500 with the rebates and such from NewEgg

Even though I dont have any suggestions coz I prolly have less idea than any of you on the subject, I will subscribe to this thread coz theres a 1k USD salary coming my way by the beggining of march and I too want to spend it on a high end PC. Good luck!

That looks... similar-ish? I don't know parts well enough to compare them at a glance.

I've been saving up for quite a while. But if you want to put that into even sharper perspective, my ex's younger brother built a PC that cost around $4000 AUD. He was 17 at the time. It was... powerful.
