Disruptable Jumpgates, your pirating a jumpgate, a dude comes, he doesnt mind you, he just docks, you don't get the loot...... You can dirsupt almost any npc dockingring/weapon platform ect. But not a jumpgate? just think about it.
This, along with the idea of disruptable Mooring Fixtures and Docking rings, is an interesting idea.
I think that if implemented, it could add an interesting facet to the game. Gates would need to be much much harder to disrupt, however.
You must consider this, however:
- Will it prevent other players outside the system from entering? This can be very problematic.
- Will this cause serious traffic jams?
- Pirating is already rampant... Doing this will make it easier for pirates to pirate traders. It's already tough, and this will make it worse. As a result, is it necessarily a good idea?
A pro of this, however, is to encourage pirates to pirate away from planets and bases, where it is more likely that they are blown to shreds.

It shouldn't prevent other plays from entering the system. As far as I know, your entrance and exit points when it comes to jumping, as well as undocking, are totally seperate. That's why we could, if we wanted to, have one way jumpholes. Some mods do, most don't.
Is idea is not good at all. It anyway the fault of the pirate to let the guy dock though. Just think, its like being selfish to make your victim have no chances while you have everything in control. It is so bad.
I like it... as for the night fleet pirate dudes, why don't you just increase patrol....... I mean, this is a great way for us to add a new element to pirating, and a new danger to trading.
I think its a cool idea and I bet many other factions like Liberty might (well mostly Gafwmn) so they can stop Alaska trespassers from speed docking and flying off while laughing in the faces of the lawfuls.
But on the other hand I could see how this could be easily abused and how it could become a huge annoyance for traders. Maybe a tradelane disruptor (I have seen a mod for it before so it is possible) would be better than a Gate disruptor.
Um I think he meant an item to disrupt trade lanes... not jump gates. Sorry to break it to you, but I don't think this is such a good idea. After all, if you've ever played the Destructable Universe mod, you'd know that when you destroy something someone is docking on or undocking from, it can crash the server. Also, those objects don't respawn until server restart. It's been mentioned before, and my answer remains no.

ALOT of people have the opportunity to abuse this....disrupting the jumpgate 24/7.
A ship with decent armor could hide inside of it, shoot it from the inside everytime it starts opening and there would be hell. You wouldn't be able to get at him with most ships, and with enough armor, he could just fly around all over it, firing at it every time it opened.
No one would get anywhere.
And with a large pirate group, have one or two on each side of the trade gate, disrupt it 24/7, do that for all jumpgates, force people to use jump holes, have pirate gunboats at said jumpholes, pirate everything that moves, and blow up everything that doesn't pay. No one would be able to enter/leave ny except by like....2-3 jump holes....
