I've seen gameplay of this and it looks very akin to Freelancer, but with combat being a touch more like AC4:Black Flag's ship combat. It shouldn't be too much longer before they release it.

You can't say it's horrible without trying. Everyone has their own playing style. 90% of the ones I convienced to play it from Freelancer are all satisfied.

I even have my own Corporation in there, gonna build a Dreadnought once I have more time for Star Conflict.

I find people talking about maxed out ships being too hard to defeat in Star Conflict silly. It's simply because almost always a good ship equals a good pilot. If that's not true, then the maxed out ship will have a hard time along with it's weaker buddies. It's pretty much what Snake said. If you don't know how to fly your ship, you will get rolled. I personally recommend Star Conflict, though the grind at rank 7/8 onwards is sometimes discouraging, at least for me.
