PROPOSAL:
Player would receive a 5 million credits reward for every hour of activity - based onto in-game time. Such amount is not OP and is way less than a normal trade run.

I was looking at the recent FL-Hook implentations and I thought about a pretty nice idea for the people, who are not really fond of trading, but would like to be sort of rewarded doing something else as well. After thinking about it for a fair time, it came up to me that 10 million credits per hour is not that much, as usually traders earn around 50-60M in that time. The point is, the overall activity of non-trading characters is not rewarded, hence the idea, in two variants:

Variant #1
Restricted to Police ID-ed players. It would work this way: for every hour activity, five millions would be added to a player, based on their in-game time. Aside of the standard fines they are issuing, they would be paid a wage.

Variant #2
Introduced to all players. It would actually reward their activity in game on non-trade characters as well. Of course, traders would still trade, pirates still pirate and roleplaying house authority would be rewarded as well. In short, even the failed piracy attempt or normal, eventless patrol, would still bring some of achievement.

Before anyone asks me about "but this way I can leave my ship over plane and AFK" - avoiding interaction is, in short, sanctionable as well. And it's pretty easy for admins to check why one player lurks for 4 hours in one system, not leaving it at all.

i would go as much as paying 5 mill, even just 1 mill or even 500,000 is a wage

if it could be possible then we'd see a lot more police about, which is a good thing

I proposed 5M per 30 minutes, because after 2 hours of activity you have a fully settled VHF as a newbie. Point of this proposition is to promote Police ID and to reward players for spending their time on a certain characters and for roleplaying them.

And, take into account it's not too OP, given that trading, smuggling and mining is way more profitable than this.

It could draw cash from an official faction bank and distribute it to faction members. The faction leader could set the wages and rates of pay, maybe even bind this to a cod based ranking system.

Also a good idea as well, as someone used to do something like this manually.

My idea is mostly directed to the newbies or people who don't want to trade initially. I've reckecked my idea a few times and it's OP for other players and barely able to be abused - and if found, punished harshly by admins.

I even thought about introducing it to all players, because it would actually reward their activity in game. Traders would still trade, pirates still pirate and roleplaying house authority would be rewarded as well. In this variant, players would still earn credits, albeit less than during trading. The eventless patrols as lawful, lurking with no traders around as a pirate or minding your own job as a explorer would bring some sort of reward.

Why don't actual player trading coorps pay said lawfuls for their services?

That's because traders (at least indie ones) want to reduce amount of credits they lose and it's cheaper to pay pirate alone, rather than paying both escort and a pirate... I dunno, that's my first thought.

The main idea of this proposal is to reward players for their time using non-trading characters, also to make players active on other characters, not just logging for fast pew and log away. 10 million per hour isn't a great sum, when compared to smuggling or trading - but enough to e.g. set up a completely newbie in two hours with a good VHF.

Additionaly, it would make trading a more optional choice for players - because if they would like to earn money faster, they simply log their trader.

Omnomnom, please. Do not post thus senseless stuff in the General discussion threads.

It is interesting, but there's one but: What stops you from logging into a char and spending a few-afk-hours lets say 120k above Manhattan?
Not that I've got something against free money, no it could be fine to get something for nothing, but it could be easily abused.
Players go fly and RP, do missions etc. deserve it, but afkers do not
